The most depressing thing about that pathetic England performance was the knowledge that Lingard would be replicating that abysmal performance for us again next season. Was he the worse substitution ever made in any sport ever.

{Ed004's Note - I thought he played quite well? Unfortunate not to score and had a decent attempt shortly after.}

I thought he played really well and was an inch away from getting the winner. I actually txt a mate saying I hope this is the Lingard we get next season, was running at themand creating a lot of space.

This has to be a joke surely, i am not lingards biggest fan but he was pretty decent when he came on today, linked up well and made some good runs.

Englands problem is they have no midfield and struggle to keep ball posession and have defenders who are prone to individual errors. Seems quite familiar to us come to think of it.

Jesse played ok. Took his offside goal very well and caused problems in the Dutch defence.

He had a decent game. What we miss is a Modric type player who can move the ball through midfield quickly. That could be the difference for this generation of England players.

Jessie did more when he came on than the 100m rated Sancho did before he came off.

So do you no longer want Sancho? Internationals are notoriously difficult to judge a player by. Messi hardly ever plays well for Argentina, yet is still arguably the greatest footballer of all time.
When you are dropped into a new team with a different playing style, different players, different expectations, with little time to train and work together. All combine to make international football disjointed, making it hard for anyone to play well consistently at that level.

How many players have been bought on the back of a good world cup then flopped? And how many have gone into a tournament expected to rip it up only to struggle.

This post is just another pathetic attempt to shoot down one of our own players, one who has come through the academy and one of the few who gives 100% out on the pitch every week.

This is why our fans are labelled pathetic glory supporters.

Jaime,
Not sure I was watching the same match! Lingard was great when he came on and unfortunate not to start IMO. GS got in wrong last night, it should have been a back 3 with our wide players doubling up. We were never going to have much joy through the middle. Lingard as a second striker/ no10 dropping into the space would have been far more effective.

Boys lingard did OK, just OK,
He had another chance opened up his body and hit the corner flag,
That's what he should be for united a good sub, you'll win no league with Jesse starting every game.
Memphis looked a better player last night.
I mean Jesse is no Scholes, or a silva or a de bruyne, I could go on but I won't.

Agree with Leahy12, Can we challenge for titles with Lingard? "NO"
He was average yesterday and saw someone comparing him with Modirc, Really?

Agreed leehy, never been a lingard admirer. Not sure what he does?
Depay was superb.

Leahy, why are you comparing Jesse with Scholes, Silva and De Bruyne?

There's no reason at all to compare players, but if you insist, it should be Pogba that you are comparing to those players, not Jesse.

Wazza because they are the type of midfield players you need to win leagues and cups.

Maybe if we keep him long enough jesse will score. Winning goal in an fa cup final. Oh wait.

Leahy, yes, but isn't Pogba supposed to be that player for us?

Or are you admitting that Lingard is above Pogba, but under at the level of KdB, etc.?

I thought he did ok to ed004
Weak in midfield and awful at the back.
It will be analysed to death but just awful defending by stones.
3 poor decisions within the space of 6 seconds.
Some other observations
Depay was as wasteful as ever but still got an assist for the stats people quote without watching games. But he did show he has improved somewhat.
Deligt good goal big error. That wrote aside he played well.
Vvd looked foot perfect.
Donny van der beek looks a player every time i see him.
Sancho likewise.
Kane looks unfit
85m for maguire is ludicrous.
