So the club are feeding to the media that they are ending their supposed strategy of bring superstars into the club.

Fellaini, mata, blind, rojo, di maria, falcao, shaw, herrera, schneiderin, bastian, darmian, depay, martial, zlatan, pogba, micky, bailly, lindelof, lukaku, matic, sanchez, fred, dalot and lee grant.

Apart from di maria, zlatan, falcao, pogba and lee grant, can any of the above be considered ‘superstars’?

Seems to me more of a briefing that the club are struggling to attract any form of top tier talent.

I would say Mata, Di Maria, Falcao, Bastian, Zlatan, Pogba, Lukaku and a stretch Matic all could be classed as 'super stars'

Basically players who are at the 'top of their game'.

Oh and Lee Grant.

I think the main reason is that the wage bill is spiralling out of control, and bringing in superstars has had a detrimental effect with a number of current players looking for big wage bumps.

The strategy may tie into Ole’s preference for young players with potential to improve, but it is borne of the more pragmatic need to address the wage issue.

Danny i think the main reason the wage bill is spiralling out of control is the club have given a lot of average players big wages as opposed to splashing out on ‘superstars’.

Hence why we are in position where we are struggling severely to get rid of smalling, jones, darmian and rojo.

We supposedly have the second highest wage bill in world football but we probably only have two players who are of such status.

Well as an average player sat in that dressing room an I see the likes of bastien an zlatan etc sat there on massive wages in going to think yeah if these mugs are paying these has beens that then I'm going to try for the same. And then they pay up. So "superstars" haven't helped.

The question is why would a genuine superstar come here over the last few seasons?

For the exciting football we play?
The supportive dressing room atmosphere?
Tropical Manchester weather?
To work with our world class coaching team?
To compete for the biggest trophies?

That’s why all the ‘big name’ players we have brought in since Fergie retired have been too old, or completely not arsed. If all you have to offer players is money, then the superstars you get are ones that are just interested in picking up a big wage. That’s why we have the highest wage bill in the league, but are still miles off competing for the title.

The fact that Lee Grant did not win this years Ballon D’or is scandalous. No one can fault his performance. Did he even concede a goal this year? I for one am outraged by this snub. I am seriously considering a petition to restore Lee’s unblemished United reputation.
