Agree Ed. Good post. Throw him into the City side beside Fernandinho and he would be class.

{Ed001's Note - not so sure Fernandinho would be the right man alongside him, he doesn't really have the legs either.}

The profile reminds me a lot about Kroos, good with the ball, hopeless to contribute properly without it.

Deeps that's nonsense. 4 cl wins and a world cup win don't happen if you make no contribution defensively in midfield. Kroos was a class act no doubt about it.

Wes Brown is a CL winning RB for us, with multiple league titles. So, just looking at someone's trophy haul won't tell the full story IMO. Keylor Navas has won multiple CLs being the undisputed first choice at GK for Real Madrid, Buffon has won none, neither has DDG. The trophy cabinet in a team game shouldn't be as much important in determining an individual's quality.

IMO Kroos is unreliable defensively, he doesn't have pace, or the engine to be that effective in the defensive side of the game nor is he positionally great to makeup for it and not that good at tackling too. That is why Casemiro, who is somewhat limited on the ball is selected to provide the defence with cover IMO. And they can somewhat makeup for eachothers faults, deficiencies. And those little things are part of the reason RM haven't been as successful in the La Liga (league format) as they have been in the CL (knockout format) . Their team, although great they have been, does have some weak areas that can be exploited relatively easily.

But most likely it is just me that thinks Kroos isn't as great as the media makes him out to be. No doubt he is a really good passer, can control the tempo of a game and has good set piece delivery but still I think he does have glaring holes in his game.

Actually Ken Kroos is one of those players I prefer to avoid talking about with my friends when chatting football because it creates a big divide and discussion and in the end it all just personal opinions and nothing more. I am more a Kante and Saul guy than a Kroos guy.

Kroos isn't lazy as such, he just doesn't process much speed or stamina. His game isn't about running. Yet there is more to defending than running. He still puts in a couple of tackles or interceptions a game.

However, if you have a player with the passing quality and vision of Kroos you don't ask him to be a combative midfielder.

I hear you deeps. but to be fair with a trophy hail like his he can't be no good.
Sure some great players don't win the best honours and some poor players win a few. But kroos was pretty much an ever present unlike brown its an argument that is churlish to be honest.
Sure a personal preference is fine but its also best to recognise that he gas been an excellent player but just not your cup of tea. Not continue to argue he is hopeless and fails to contribute defensively that is simply not true.
Very simialar to scholes as a player actually and faster by quite a bit.

In my view Kroos is a great player when on the ball but somewhat a liability without the ball. I do think he has been a good player, just not as good as the media and most people make him out to be. People don't consider his weaknesses without the ball as much as they do with let's say for example Ozil. Just my take Ken. And why I have never been that much into the idea of us going after him.

Its the combination that makes them good.
Casemiro, Kroos and Modric together are a fabulous trio.
