Simple questions

Does anyone believe that Transfer window showed the club want to win the top prizes?

Does anyone think the clubs aims and ambition are anything other than financial?

Does anyone think that midfield is good enough?

United have nearly always had a top goal scorer, anyone any idea why we didn't replace the main goal scorer?

Red Man. It's 2 seasons in a row the board has failed to back the manager.
Its's disgraceful to be honest how an elite club like ours is run.
Ed002 said we handle transfer negotiations like amateurs.
Everybody knows the glaring deficiency in the squad.
Since I don't know the structure, I'm not sure who to put the blame on.
And not sure where the Dof search is heading to.

On a positive note, we have improved our defence significantly.
We must hope the youngsters step up and the older players play with consistency.
If it happens, I believe we will surprise a few.
Some of the players in our squad have great potential.
Furthermore, we must be patient with the likes of Greenwood, James whenever they make mistakes.
Ole has the right ideas. Let's back him and the players to have a successful season.

Red Man, the transfer windows ended on a sour note. It looked promising at the start, albeit slow but, everyone knows the defense and midfield were priorities and needed strengthening. We sorted out the defense and brought in a young james and for once we looked to be heading in the right direction but once again we leave ourselves short of quality options in midfield.

With Woodie involved it is no surprise on how things panned out in the end, and he is more of a financial guy than anything else. And with the way our recruitment has been in recent times, it really shows a lack of understanding and proper planning on the transfer front and does raise questions on the ambition of the club. Get rid of him already and appoint a DOF.

The midfield is decent on paper but lacks options in terms of quality, grit and consistency. One injury to Pogba/ McTominay and we would be in trouble unless the likes of Fred, Perreira step up big time. Add to the fact we are short in that department already and with Pogba blowing hold and cold, it isn't a good situation.

It would had been wise to replace Lukaku but when the glaring deficiency in midfield was ignored outright, it is no surprise. The club probably looked at the attacking options and the emergence of Greenwood in particular and decided to put their trust in them. Even someone like Mandžukić as a short term fix would had been better provided the costs involved was fair.

I honestly think they're preparing to sell hence keeping spending down.

Red Man, good questions, and the answers are no. As for Lukaku replacement, i think Greenwood will surprise a few. But it's the supply from midfield that's going to hurt us big time.
Woodward, owners, and the board have failed and they don't give a toss. They've been taking the money and taking the piss unashamedly.
Like Mort, i too think they're preparing to sell, and good riddance.

1. No, it showed that the club still thinks they can bully smaller clubs into selling their best players for cheap, but puts stupidly inflated prices on players at this club. I think it’s more about ‘winning’ at transfer negotiations than improving the team.

2. No, that would require people who know/ care about football.

3. The midfield is 100% not good enough. We are relying heavily on a player who doesn’t want to be here. Matic is in decline, Perreira isn’t good enough, Garner too young, and one good preseason doesn’t mean that McTom is now a top class player. Also I have no idea why people suddenly think that Fred will be good enough given that his first touch is worse than Lukaku being pushed head first into the ball.

4. The Lukaku transfer was about winning the negotiation. Juve were in a similar situation with Dybala, but pulled the plug because they didn’t have a replacement lined up. We didn’t care about the replacement because the transfer team got inter to pay £5-10m more than they wanted.
