Just a little post to try and get some perspective on here.

I think we have played some decent football so far this season and have enjoyed the games a lot more than i have for a number of seasons, even with results going against us and missed penalties. We are heading in the right direction and we can't ask for much more right now.

However some of the posts on here have amazed me, even though i've been around a good few years and suffered many an overreaction and histerical post.

This is highlighted further by the plight of two teams only a few miles from here, Bolton and Bury. Two clubs who have been around for 100+ years and now find themselves in dire need of help. A miracle even. Maybe walking a mile in a Bolton or Bury fans shoes would show people some perspective, although there are quite a few spoilt people around here or people with short memories at least, so maybe not.

I think it is time that the riches were shared a little bit more with the smaller sides. The Premier League sides should get together and do something about it. Football teams, no matter how big or small, are so important to fans, communities and towns. They can't be allowed to just disappear.

There are two Bolton fans at work who had season tickets, and are gutted with what is happening. We were all chatting today and quite a few of us, along with those two have decided to get a season ticket if they are saved and manage to survive. It may cost us a bit, and may be small fry in the grand scheme of things, but United have had, and continue to have plenty from us all.

Bury were also supposed to be at home this weekend and fans were cleaning the stadium this morning hoping it would be ok, but it looks maybe not. If they manage it and the game goes ahead, we are all going to go down there this weekend to show our support and have considered more season tickets. Personally i hope i am a lot poorer soon and that both clubs survive. But, the help needs to come from above not just supporters and fans from other teams.

If these smaller teams disappear it will be a tragedy for English football as a whole, not just the individual clubs.

Brendan, I was going to post something similar, but couldn't find a way to word it without looking like I was just trying to deflect attention away from our own supposed woes. Great post.

The Bury one especially, because of our historic links with the club, particularly upsets me. I remember we used to play a preseason friendly which maybe helped swell their coffers a little, but for whatever reasons it was stopped. I really feel for the supporters of both clubs, and all those connected with them.

We used to play our reserve games at Gigg Lane. Went along on quite a few occasions when i was at a loose end. Always loved smaller football grounds. Used to watch Stockport County when i was young too.

Different atmosphere with people going to watch those teams and meeting up with old friends and cheering on their local side, like their dad did, and grandad did. Compared to a large proportion of day trippers that United get, as do most PL teams nowadays, i feel i belong more with the people going to watch these smaller teams than i do with the people who watch United now.

They are more like the guys i stood beside on the Stretford End in the late 80's when i first went to Old Trafford. Those games were a real experience. When a goal went in, you ended up 20 steps further down, nowhere near the people you were stood with 30 seconds earlier. Quality.

Good luck to all the lower league sides. I hope things change from top to bottom.

Brendan for once I agree with you.
Big reaction after we good beat but I've got to be honest I really enjoyed the second half.
I've enjoyed all the games so far this season.

Both clubs have been managed financial terribly. Disasters waiting to happen . The EFL are as much to blame in so many ways but unfortunately it looks like these two will be made examples of. I agree the money should be filtered better from the top tier clubs but as i heard last week "if a newsagent on your street was in need of some money and you also had a newsagents on the same road would you give him the money he needs". The answer is no its the same in any buisness bad bad management 😭😭.
