Looking at tomorrow nights game I get the feeling we will see a repeat of the watford game. Burnley will be compact, solid and outwork us in all areas. It shows the quality of our squad that a player like mctominay will be sorely missed.

I get the feeling whatever the result, you will find a reason to bitch n moan.

I didn't say a word after the watford no show, or Everton or villa so not quite sure what your getting at? Just stating that Burnley is exactly the sort of team we struggle with. A team that will beat us 4 work rate, are strong physically and also are solid tactically.

I think we will have a breakthrough and win by more than just 1 goal. I think Ole will big Martial up and get him thinking that it all starts and ends with his effort, energy, runs and pressing upfront. (Which it does) and that he can set the tone for the whole side.

Expecting the same front four to start. But without McT he may play Pogba and switch in Jesse for Anreas due to his defensive energy. I hope he doesn't, and that Pogba delivers next to Fred.

Possible he may play James and bring Greenwood on from bench, but hopefully not.

Big game. Hope the squad feels how big it is.

Dodgy

Big game?

All games are must win games especially when it is such a mid table clash. Who would have thought that mid table scraps for points would be so important, this one is not just for the points but for some to justify the manager deserves the job. A mid table clash with Burnley, next it will be our main derby game because City and Liverpool have more important matters. There again 8th is lofty heights to a manager who only knows relegation at this level of football. Once it would have been a shock not to win at Burnley, now we have no idea what team will turn up. The joys of a relegation standard manager I suppose.

Very concerned about the set pieces. Burnley are masters at it, and we can’t defend them!

Exactly my worry. Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes etc will give us massive problems. We also won't get the space we so love to play into on the counter. Difficult game, hopefully we can get the 3 points.

We're 4 points off top 4. But if it suits to spin it as a mid-table clash, then fill your boots.

{Ed047's Note - if it’s not a top of the table clash or a bottom of the table clash what is it? 🤷‍♂️

Does a just above mid table clash or just below top 6 clash work for your spin Nou?

See Christmas and a good win has brightened your spirits Red Man. I understand some of your frustrations but you make out like we’ve got my gran as manager and we’ve not won a game all season. It’s very silly.

Glad to see Christmas has cheered you up Red Man 😃. Ole is probably not the man for the future but it’s fine lines right now. It’s a big game because a decent run will likely move us into the top 4. At least you are calling us a mid table team now as opposed to fretting about relegation.

Positives: youngest team in the EPL, youngsters breaking through, better signings last window, strong against good opposition.
Negatives: massively inconsistent application, inability to break packed defences down, struggling to score enough goals to finish games off.

As I said, I don’t think Ole is right for the future but in the main I like what I am seeing.

Hopefully we can turn up from the start, it's so important to set the tone from the first whistle.
We're 4 points from top4 but 2 points from 12th, so it is a mid table clash no matter how people want to spin it. We can put a marker down to fight for 4th spot, but we have to match Burnley for effort. The fact we're discussing "effort " is worrying, that should be a given. But we've shown we lack the fighting certain matches against tough teams with partisan crowd, let's hope the team is ready and learning the important lessons.

Luckily it's a late kickoff. We are awful at early games or at least it seems that way. Does anyone know what our record is in lunchtime kickoffs over the last few years? Maybe it's just in my head 😂.

Burnley have made a very good living off of out efforting teams. There are many a big team that loses these type of games because they do not respect the opposition and just think they can turn up and win.

Big game because we have been inconsistent and we need to show we can put a run of a few wins together.

Second game in 48 hours. Burnley will have red circled this game on their calendar all year and will be right up for it. We better mat h that desire or it will be very difficult.
