Take sky sports headlines with a lunch of salt usually, United and Sporting far apart in valuation of Fernandes is one I can believe however and has been said on here before. Let's hope this is not amateur hour at OT again.

I ain't having a lunch of salt, I'd need some chicken or beef to go with it at least.

Deja Vu from the summer WRD.

If we fail to get a deal done for the second window in succession then someone needs to be held accountable. Its no way to do business, and makes others very wary of dealing with us.

Ed002 has been consistent on this one.

United want the player.
Sporting need money.
Have set a price for the player.
United tried to pressure them into taking a lower offer in the summer.
United are still trying to pressure them into accepting a lower offer.

I don’t think the club know anything but amateur hour at this stage.

The way this is being conducted I wouldn't be surprised to see the negotiations collapse again.

Priceless it really is. if Ole wants the player just pay the fee and get the transfer over the line. I have lost count of the amount of players we never signed over the years because we penny pinch all the time. Clubs like Chelsea, Man City and to a degree Liverpool just pay the fee and get the player. It's just embarrassing, the club from the top down is a complete laughing stock.

Yea that’s now business works, just pay whatever they want, £490m if you need to, get it done!

8.) 14 Jan 2020

Worse still is that we dither that much that when we eventually do sign a player it is out of desperation and usually overpay.

GDS, yeah that’s how business works - you want to buy my best player, I give you a price, you spend the entire summer trying to drive the price down, it doesn’t work and the player signs a new contract with a higher release clause, you come back in January still offering substantially below the asking price.

If United are unwilling to match the valuation and it’s clear that Sporting will not sell for what United are willing to pay, it’s time to focus on another target or just stump up the cash. It’s rank amateur behaviour by us, and Ed002 has already said that our ‘business’ practices in the transfer market are making other clubs reluctant to deal with us.

I don't think anyone is saying that GDS. ed002 has explained that we are incredible amateurish when dealing with transfers.

Mmmm. Sky Sports new have no news, so what should they report. Yes, the fact that no deal has taken place and try and spin some drama. Or get bets on.

12.) 14 Jan 2020
14 Jan 2020 17:31:58
GDS2 - wow now that is a little bit to expensive for a player. Stop with the snide comments you know what I mean.

The constant moaning is just very very boring, everyone so negative even though we are likely to buy a good player that we need. You literally have no idea what’s going on in negotiations yet everyone moaning about it.

If we want him as will get him.

We paid £80mill for Maguire. I'll say that again. £80mill for Harry bang average centre back Maguire and now we are for the second time messing Sporting around over a player who is exactly what we need. If we sell Pogba the money will pay for Fernandes which will be a major upgrade.

I think ed002 gives everyone a very detailed breakdown of what we are doing. Most definitely much more reliable and consistent than any other 'source' out there. So it's fair to rely upon his info when he says we are extremely amateurish when it comes to player negotiations. Not a negative, just the reality of where this club is right now when it comes to signing and selling players.

Let's be honest, they haven't got a very good track record. Fans have a right to voice their opinions and frustrations because these kinds of things have been happening for years.

I tell you what else gets very very boring, calling it boring all the time :)

I can't remember many people calling Maguire bang average in the summer.

I argued several times that I would be stunned if he ever seemed like good value. That he was good in a couple of areas but lacking in others. I said there were many better options available at half the price.

Yet every time I said he wasn't that great I was shouted down. Told he was England's best player in a run to the semi finals of a world cup. That he was the leader we were crying out for, that he would organise our defence and make us tighter than a ducks arse in defence.

So I'm a little surprised to see comments like bang average less than six months later.

GDS that is not true, just because we want him does not equate to signing him. Have you been in hiding the last few transfer windows?

Hi ed's can you check if shappy's post above holds any sort of record for the most 'I's' in one post?
😂.

{Ed033's Note - Yep, just managed to get Norris McWhirter through on ye olde Ouija Board and it's confirmed - More I's' than a Chiton.

Shappy, I don´t remember telling you he was the second coming and from what I've seen so far he´s just a very naughty boy.
