Probably deserved result but emphasises how shallow (and crap) our squad is. The result hurts but not unexpected. Really missed Rashford but think that Ole got it tactically as right as he could have with the players available. Rode our luck at times but we couldn’t have expected anything else. Shame that the service wasn’t there for the front 2/ 3.

Glimmers of hope? Matic played well, Fred was excellent, Shaw actually wasn’t that bad up against Salah.

Fred was outstanding today. He really shone as the standout midfielder today on both teams. I’m really happy for him and glad he’s found his feet.
Pereira on the other hand was woeful. The amount of opportunities he had to pick a pass or shoot. He had space and time to do this also.

Weird game. In small parts we were decent but in others we were embarrassing. Why didn’t James take out Salah. I know it probably wouldn’t of meant anything but come on. We are a soft side all the way through the team.

exactly my thoughts Blackpool reds pull him get a card. I would have done that.

On occasions we were decent, but there is a clear gulf in class when Liverpool upped the tempo.

Defensively we still need work, too many goals conceded at set pieces.

I'm actually glad James didn't take Salah out, it would have been a clear red card which would have meant a ban for him, with Rashford out that would have been disasterous. Plus it wouldn't have made a difference to the result.

With Rashford out the club needs to push through the Bruno Fernandes deal AND find another striker/ forward. Effectively Rashford will be out for the season now. If we can bring in a goalscoring RW and push James back over to the left for the next few months.

Ole got it right tactically?

We set up to contain them.
Conceded within 20 min.
Didn’t change the system until the last 15 minutes.

Ole got it right if the plan was to avoid a trouncing. At no point did we try to actually win the game.

We can make all the excuses about the squad and injuries, but we play shocking football and there is very little evidence of high quality coaching throughout the squad. The same silly defensive mistakes, the same plodding sideways passes in the final third, the same lack of incision.

Front 3 had the service we needed. James twice messed up the final pass to Martial and when AWB got the final ball right Andreas fluffed his lines on the simplest of taps ins.

AM also created and then missed a golden chance.

We played well today. Ole got it right more than he got it wrong, as did many if the players.

Some players had mixtures of good and bad (Lindelof, Maguire, Martial, James to name a few) and at times a few looked intimidated by the occasion and atmosphere. But every one had good moments in the game, everyone contributed.

In the end I think the players can leave with their heads held high. They gave a very good team a good game of football today. This Liverpool team is a squad for the ages, they are riding high at the peak of their powers. With City's win last year I think we all neglected to notice just how good a run the Liverpool team had created. When they beat Tottenham in the UCL we down played the significance of that win. They are surely turning into one the best teams to have played in the EPL - as much as it pains me to say.

Paragraph 5 totally unnecessary DB.
😂😂😂
Can't fault the players today. We could have done a lot better it could have been a lot worse. I don't think any player was below average today and i don't think too many were above average. We looked better in our usual shape in the last 10 mins they got a bit nervy and we applied good pressure but couldn't knick one. We fluffed our lines on the 3 or 4 chances we made. Normally you would expect to score from at least 1. So the plan nearly worked. But ultimately failed due to not trying to win from early enough.

It wasn't easy to write Ken 🤣

I feel the game plan worked. We gave them too many corners, not at all surprised we conceded to a corner.

We had a few chances that we couldn't take advantage of. The spell after half time was more a case of us not dealing with the occasion.

I'm hoping Bailly or Tuanzebe get a chance with Maguire now.

Well said Dodgy.
The team sorely missed McTominay and Rashford.
