Looking at the Chelsea game and team options. Playing a 4-4-2 option, so Dave in goal, AWB, Harry, Lindelof and Williams. Midfield I'd play Fred and McTominay (if fit, Matic if not), play Martial on the left, with Dialot on the right, Bruno in the 10 position and our new centre forward up top. Good balance and Dialot providing plenty of crosses for lghalo.

Matic has been superb over the last 4-6 weeks. I agree with Angelred he is bar far the best midfielder we have at this moment.

So you think Matic is a better midfielder than Pogba, Bruno and McTominay who when fit has kept him out of the team based on performances?

Matic of 3 years ago was a top midfielder, yet every year his legs have gone more and more, he has the turning circle of the RMS Titanic, as shown against City with players breezing pass him, the only time he go close to them he fouled them, which in the end got him sent off.

He just hasn't got the mobility anymore to be effective in the DM role without at least a couple of mobile players around him doing his running. Add that to a reluctance to play the defence splitting passes that he used to, or dribbling out from the press that he no longer seems able to. He is a spent force capable of putting in the odd good performance when the conditions suit him.

I like Matic and would keep him if he is happy with a squad role.
The main problem is, we have been over playing him for the past 2 years.

However, at the moment McTominay is better than both Fred and Matic. Although not great with the ball like Pogba, he is reliable.

Shappy. read my post properly. I said at the moment. Of course he's not as good as Pogba and Mctominay, i didn't say that.
We all know Matic is at the end of his career and he isn't as mobile as he used to be. I was just stating that over the past month or so he's played well and in my opinion he's been the best midfielder AVAILABLE to us. Your like a record saying the same thing over and over again zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
