AWB, I have been impressed.

I was brought into my first football team at about 8 as a right back. It was a time when you could fly into tackles, you learnt timing. My late brother, also played right back, told me there were three stages as a right back, slide in win the ball, slide miss the ball take the player and lastly where did he go. I watched AWB and appreciated his timing, the way he watches the ball, gives such focus and concentration to it then goes in, is exquisite. Probably the best tackler of the type I have seen in a long time, a real throwback. As he gets older remember the three stages, it got to Gary Neville and AWB relies on the decisive speed to get a toe in. Enjoy the technique, defending can be a pleasure to watch.

I think AWB is very much like me.

His style means that unless he learns to adapt his approach as he get older he might have a sharp decline.

However, if he learns to stay on his feet and sheperd the player down a blind alley then he will prolong his career at the top level, while also becoming a more rounded defender.

Currently his timing and the ability he has to get his foot on the ball is world class. I can't remember seeing another defender with such ability to win the ball.

I think there are two areas I would be working on him improving, the first is learning not to always slide in and learn the art of defending while staying on your feet. The second is to just slow down slightly as he enters the final third and looking to cross. He plays slightly to hurried, meaning he either doesn't have time to get his head up or is trying to hit the cross while still running at full speed. That would massively improve his delivery into the box.

His timing of a tackle is excellent however he slides in that much I wonder whether he is over reliant on his athleticism and like Shappy says as he gets older he would decline because for me if a defender is diving and sliding in as much as he does either his positioning is off or his reading of the game.

Vvd best defender around is so good but you rarely see him having to dive in his positioning is that good bit like Rio.

Shappy i think that the crosses at speed is the best bissaka can produce. The instict crosses at speed. I think, and is just my opinion, that his problem is when he slows it down and he has no idea what to do with the ball.
