Hi Ed001,
What is your assessment about Martial leading the line for United this season.
We have seen encouraging signs from him before football was halted.

Do you think United should persist with him as the first choice striker next season or go after someone else?

{Ed001's Note - I have always said he should play up front, he doesn't have the skills for a wide player. However you still need someone with experience as well, to push him as first choice.}

I think Martial when fit and played as a striker has been very good.

I agree that a more experienced option would be very useful, especially with Greenwood coming through.

Ighalo has had a very good impact, not just scoring goals and linking well with his teammates but that he has pushed Martial to work harder.

The same thing has happened with Williams pushing Shaw to work harder for his place.

Genuine competition for places will push our players to do more and work harder. If it doesn't then they don't have the mentality to be top drawer players.

Martial is a very good player he just needs a touch more patience and support.

We have Rashford, Martial and now Fernandes all easily capable of scoring at least 10 plus league goals a piece. If we can acquire a RW capable of the same we'll have a very exciting team. The best Utd teams in my opinion have always shared the goal scoring burden and I think Ole is looking to create a mobile, dynamic, fluid and interchangeable attacking unit. Sometimes we can definitely lack a presence between the posts but Ighalo has done a very good job of filling that void and Greenwood also provides another great attacking option with the advantage of being able to play anywhere across the front line.

Will it be good enough to challenge and even topple the likes of City and Liverpool we'll have to wait and see but at the very least we should have a team capable of playing some exciting, attractive and attacking football.

I think this current team will possibly be defined by just how good the likes of Rashford, Martial, Fernandes and maybe even Greenwood can become; certainly whilst Ole remains in charge.

Martial needs a bit of luck with injuries. He looks like the type of that needs games and always looks a bit off his game after coming back from injury .
The other side is once he gets a run of games he tends to start putting the ball in the net. Unfortunately evertime this happens he tends to pick up an injury.

More than capable ability wise, I'll stick to my guns and say I don't believe he has what it takes upstairs to really be that no. 1 striker. He has been at the club quite a long time and injuries aside, I just don't think he has ever done enough.

I think we would be better off getting in a starting CF with Martial 2nd choice. I think he would benefit from more competition in that position and pressure would be taken off his shoulders to be the main man. He can play across the front 3 if required and I think that would suit him better.

We've been waiting two or three seasons now for the likes of Martial and Rashford to mature and be more consistent. With the addition of Fernandes providing the creative spark something tells me that we're about to be rewarded for our patience. If we can somehow land Sancho watch this space!

Martial is a better player when he doesn't play.

I think Martial has is it all, can hold ball up, has pace and an eye for goal when he has a run in the team. However seems to have been sporadic with form due to injuries.
For me in the summer the big quality addition it will he one of a RF or CD. If we can get Sancho or similer then RF is the priority. I would keep Ighalo and bring Greenwood a chance to step up a cross the front 3.
With Fernandes behind we have real potential.

DLIB, agree with Rashford, he has consistently shown more potential and willingness. Martial on the other hand just flatters to deceive. I think we would be better off getting in a better striker couple with Sancho. That would be really special.
