That consecutive games stat from Phil Neal is absolutely incredible. Considering the condition of the pitches, the tackles that were the norm and Liverpool were hoovering up trophies. He must have been made of different stuff.

I can't imagine it been done at the top level. Players in the "red zone" get sent to Dubai for a rest.

He was probably in the boozer having a few pints on Friday night too.

I take it he wasn't a bad footballer either?

{Ed001's Note - he was very good and a nice guy too. When we first split the sites up into individual club sites, we had a poster who pretended to be him. When I called him out about it, he refused point blank to admit he was not the real Phil Neal. The problem was, he was arguing the point while the real one was on a golf course with my uncle playing a round together. So I am sat on the phone reading out this guy's posts to them and they are cracking up laughing. The fake guy even sent me abusive emails after being blocked still claiming to be the real Phil Neal! It would have been nice if it was the real one, but he is an old guy and he had no idea the site even existed, let alone knew how to post on it from a mobile.}

Hahahah that's wonderful. You'd want to have thick skin reading these pages as a footballer. Even though the majority are nice people we can get carried away.

Do you know of any players that frequented the sites as posters or in the shadows?

{Ed001's Note - not that frequented, I know of a few that have looked in from time to time. They don't want to get too involved in case any info comes out that they could get the blame for. That's why I could never get any to agree to do interviews or anything. Well other than a few who would do but want paying large fees!}

Great penalty taker too, didn’t blast it, stuck it in the corner having usually sent the keeper the wrong way.

I have a new found respect for Phil Neal. That is a ridiculous stat, his physical and mental toughness must be off the chart.

I can't be sure but i think Liverpool won the league one year around then only using 14 players.
Only allowed 1 sub power game back then too.
