So many of the pundits have United finishing 5th in their end of season predictions.

I'm not sure I agree with them. We were the most in form team before the break, we have arguably (before Bruno signed) our best two out field players back from injury, and according to sky we have the easiest run in of all the teams in the EPL.

Obviously going against that is points in the bank are always more important than ones that can be won. While this season we have actually a poorer record against lower teams than those higher in the table.

I think we will finish 4th, maybe even pinch 3rd. What do you guys think?

Rash and pogba not played a competitive match for a while tho, don't think pogba has started a game since september.

Aim to be excited. prepare to be disappointed 😂 honestly though I think conventional wisdom, Previous form etc all go out the window. We could finish 4th or 7th that’s just how it is. How players and teams adapt to the surroundings will decide who does well. Don’t be surprised if there’s a few shock results too.

We have one of the more favourable run ins across the league. We have Rashford and Pogba fit and Bruno hit the ground running when he signed. On the face of it we are in a good spot. Nevertheless, I'd struggle to say we will finish in the top 4.

That isn't me being negative but this United side hasn't shown enough consistency against the poorer teams in the league to assume we will win against the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth, Norwich etc. We also have no idea how any team will return from this break. We could just as easily come back in fantastic form as we could look sluggish and play poorly. There are also a number of teams in the hunt for 4th, if Spurs beat us on Friday they are only a point behind us.

The ideal situation for me would be if we finish in the top 4 to guarantee CL and Sheff Utd finish 5th with City missing out due to the possible ban.

In basically a training ground atmosphere it should be solely about the players and the strength of the squad and I feel we should have more than enough to finish in the top 4 especially as chelsea and Leicester on paper anyway have much tougher fixtures.

I think it's interesting as there are so many different aspects to consider.

Empty stadiums might mean home sides don't have as much advantage as they normally would.

Smaller club's have a tendency to have a greater reliance on physical fitness, often having to cover more ground in games and are less reliant of skill and ability. Which means without the ability to build that fitness up might mean they struggle more after the restart than those club's who have the more talented players and can lean on that talent until fitness levels are back up.

Good form before the break was THREE months ago now. You wouldn't expect a team to start the season strongly just because they finished the last season well. That would be a similar length big break as we are seeing now.

While for United specifically although we have Rashford and Pogba back, that could actually be disruptive rather than beneficial. As now Ole has to work out how to fit them into a team that was playing well. Fred, Matic and McTominay were all playing well before the break. With Bruno at least one had to be dropped to the bench every game. With Pogba back maybe two of them get dropped.

Its impossible to say shappy. As someone above said we could be 3rd it wouldn't surprise me at all. We could also finish 7th and that wouldn't surprise me at all either.
Ole has had the team on hot streaks begore but couldn't sustain them.
Not sure if pogba coming back is a help or hindrance.
I hope we continue our good form. I think it will be tough for the players playing with no fans. I reckon 7 wins from 9 will get us in the top 4.
I still reckon we have a better chance of winning a cup than finishing in top 4 hopefully the EL.
Once again opportunity knocks for ole keys hope we take the opportunity.

Honestly think we will finish 5th. going to be hard to get going again after such a long break, it’s the same for everyone I know but we are notoriously slow starters and this is just like the start of the season. Whether 5th will be good enough to get us champions league is anyone’s guess (I suspect city will escape with a reduction in ban or just a large fine) . Going to be a strange experience but we may get used to it as this could be the face of football and all sports for a while at least.

I think the challenge, apart from the obvious empty stadiums, rusty players, virus etc, will be the balance of whether Ole feels he has to play both Pogba and Bruno and at whose expense, Martial perhaps? People salivate over having both, but are we going to force it with such little practice? Will we lose balance or will it be great? it’s something we have to get right and there is little leeway for error.

I think we can get 4th possibly at the expense of Leicester but it’s almost impossible to give any reasoned prediction.

I think a lot will depend on how we get on against Spurs. With Ole our form has usually been one extreme or the other. We've put together 2 amazing runs of form, and also some runs of mere mediocrity. On the plus side our form against the top sides has been superb.

In some of my previous posts and some tweets as well quarantine time discussion with my friends, i raised a possibility of rising to 3rd. as before break we aren't looking like droping more points, Teams like chelsea and Leicester were dropping frequent points. So mathematically, we were in position to go upto 3rd.
And i am still pritty sure we will qualify for UCL out r8ght.
Return of Pogba and Rashford will aid to our cause. Only thing to concern me is team conceding soft long range goals from Center, DDG getting expised in set pieces. if this can be looked after during remaining matches, we are surly 3rd.

Our bench will be much stronger with the return of Rash and Pogba.

Can't wait to see the boys in action.

I think we should look at remaining undefeated in our last few games -we should be able to do that with a full squad. I personally think 5th is a good position and that might be enough for Champions League qualification.
Its all about having consistency now and strengthening in our week areas.

I have us finishing in the top 4.
I see a lot is being said about having Rash and Pogba back, but look at spurs, they have key players back as well. Other teams whose tanks were running on zero have been refreshed and have players back as well.
It is completely unknown territory, can't wait to see how it goes.
All the best to us!

We supposedly have an easier run, but 4 or 5 of those games are against teams in a relegation battle. We'll need to be spot on attitude and intensity-wise for those games.

And Pogba and Bruno obviously can't play together, as West Brom beat us the other day.
