Seen one journo opinion going on about how we all go criticise pogba due to the amount we paid but this season Maguire having cost similar has had a pretty easy ride. And I agree actually.

I’m no way advocating pogba and his attitude or performances but it’s right, Maguire was way overpaid for and has for me had the similar impact 1 worldclass performance in 5 starts.

Is it the fact he left us Fergie era? Is it the agent he has? Or is it the fickle fans sucked into the media agenda against him?

By no means has he been a success and yes he’s been here a lot longer of course but sometimes I feel we just find an excuse to dislike the man. He was heads above a lot of our team when he came on and always is. He plays the perfect pin point passes always but sadly there hasn’t been the people on the end of them imo.

My opinion aside, he’s likely to leave which is a shame but the current state of things if he believes he can do better then fair does, accept it and wave him off. Like Chelsea anyone who doesn’t want to be here we should allow them to leave.

Different people will have different views. For me Pogba is our most naturally talented outfield player. I don't really care what he does off the pitch as long as he does it on the pitch. His off field antics are no worse than those of Beckham, yet Beckham got away with it because he was a dedicated player who spent hours of extra time training and never left the pitch without giving 100%.

I'm not sure if you can say the same about Pogba, and for me that is the root of the problem.

While his agent isn't a guy many football fans appreciate due to the public way he does business. For me this is less of an issue, but I still cringe every time I hear his name (Mino that is) .

I think that's the main reason why Maguire gets an easier ride. He is no where near as talented as Pogba, but you always know he gives his all on the pitch.

The last thing that's different between the two is expectation. Rightly with greater talented comes greater expectation. Pogba has a much higher ceiling so fans expect much more from him.

If Pogba puts in performances like he against Spurs for 90 minutes every week then I don't think you will find many fans complaining about him. Simple as that.

Fickle fans sucked into the media agenda against him mainly.

On maguire, would we be in a better position if we bought fernandes in the summer and did not buy maguire and kept smalling?

A full season of bruno in the team would have us in the top 4 in my opinion.

Agree with DSG.
Bruno from start of the season would have been a massive signing.

Even Ighalo at the start would have been useful.
I remember the Westham game where Martial, Greenwood were injured and we had to play Lingard as the striker.

Squad depth had been a major issue in the first half of the season.

Pogba is just the idea of a good player. Mino has done a great con job by getting so many people to believe in Pogba's 'potential' which will never be realised because aside from the odd decent pass, Pogba isn't an effective footballer. He's more a decent marketing tool.

Pogba gets a hard time because he costs a lot of money for an illusion and people don't like being sold a pup.

If Pogba stays it will be several more years of the same old same old. With Pogba this is as good as it gets.

Pogba MUST be sold.
I've read that so many times on this page, virus, wants out, bad influence etc etc .
But if he finds form no one will want to sell him the rest of it is just an excuse to sell him and buy a fancy name .

Personally I think he will stay still has potentially 2 years on his contract .

DSG, maybe, but then I think Maguire brings other key skills our squad was lacking such as leadership, dedication, fight and desire.

I'm not saying Bruno doesn't bring that as well, just that we need as many players with that if we are to become a top side again.

One of the things that often gets overlooked when remembering our 90's/ 00's peak years with Sir Alex is that we had leaders all over the park. But they are often overlooked because of the presence of Roy Keane. But Schmeichel, Bruce, Pallister, Irwin, Neville, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham, Hughes, Cantona, VDS, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Rooney, Ronaldo, Ince, Robson, RvP etc all had leadership qualities and either captained United, their national side or other club sides during their careers.

The more players with leadership mentality you have in a dressing room the more focused and driven the team is to succeed.

When I look at the players on our books currently I see Henderson, Tuanzebe, Maguire, Williams, McTominay, Matic, Bruno, Mata, Rashford maybe Pogba as players who display some degree of leadership. Several of those are young lads making their way into the first team, so can't be relied on to drag the other up around them yet. While the likes of Mata and Matic won't be around much longer.

That's why bringing in a player like Maguire was so important last summer.

Waiting 3 years for Pogba to find form. The 'on his day' footballer. Maybe give him a run of a few games and he will be as consistent as Martial? 😂.
