Looking forward to a world where we keep Pogba (so ignoring that he possibly wants out) and have him and Fernandes as 2 of a midfield 3. I am curious who we would need to get to make the 3 balanced and get the most out of the other 2 and whether it would be 1 holding or as we play now as a 4231 with someone alongside Pogba.

Ndidi would be a great signing.

If you are going to play two attack minded players like Pogba and Bruno in midfield you will need to balance that with someone who is excellent defensively.

Ndidi could be a good option if you have a spare 60-70m to spend.

Florentino Luis looks a talent when he plays a Benfica.

Or if you want a budget friendly option then Ibrahim Sangare from Toulouse who have been relegated from Ligue 1 in France could be a very shrewd purchase.

Pogba is a really good player. Ole wants him to stay he has said so many times.
His best option is maybe to run his contract down if the club don't sell him. If he starts to find his form and he and the team are playing well and being successful he might want to sign a new deal here and if he fancies a new change when his contract expires then he will get an absolute fortune signing on a free elsewhere.
If the club offer him a new contract now and he is committed he'll sign it then that will put to bed all the stories.
If the club offer him a new contract and he doesn't sign it then he is keeping his options open.
At that point the club have a chioce keep him against the players wishes or sell him getting the best deal they can.
He won't sign a new contract unless he is committed. If he is great we get to keep a top footballer.
The club and ole i'm sure are hoping that he finds form and the team find form and that pogba will suddenly see a future for himself at united competing for the league and champions league and will sign on for another 4 years.
Im not his biggest fan i believe he there is a selfish party of his game that needs knocking out of him. I don't trust him after 2 years of watching him blow hot and cold, not in terms of ability so much but in terms of application and commitment.
I see don't believe jose ever got the most out of him nor has ole. i'm not sure why that is.

Someone who can pass the ball forwards competently and has the first touch of a professional standard.

Thomas Partey, Ndidi or Saul.
McTominay can be groomed for that role as well.

TrueRedDevil, for me both Partey and McTominay are better as box to box midfielders rather than defensive/ holding midfielders. Their best assets are their drive and energy, something that you don't get to use so much if you are anchoring the midfield.
