Blimey, I thought it was City fans that were supposed to be bitter. Some of the posts on here have me shaking my head.

Last year, City did the domestic treble, the first time it has been dine, an incredible achievement. This year, LIverpool have won the league with 7 games to go and have only lost 2 games of the last 69 in the league. Let that sink in.

City and Liverpool have taken what is required to a whole new level and right now, every other team isn’t even on the same planet as them. We spoke to Klopp, he wasn’t convinced. SAF spoke to Pep although it has never been confirmed if we wanted him, he ended up at City. Instead we appointed a Manager with no real track record, no European experience, no trophies, possibly one of the worst decisions ever.

Sometimes you just have to tip your hat and say well done, it may be through gritted teeth but City and Liverpool have been incredible for 2 years.

As for United, if anyone thinks we might win the league next year then I’ll have a pint of what you’re drinking. Our defence is better, Bruno has shown what a top quality player can do, but the gap is immense. I think our aim next year is to continue to improve but I can’t see beyond 3rd, hopefully with more goals, more consistency, and more progress.

Painful, maybe, but realistic.

I have just been reading a few of the posts and was going to post something similar.

For 30 years I have had rival fans mock us for the lack of the title but the simple truth was we weren’t good enough. Whether that be playing staff, external factors like owners or others simply being better then us (City last year) sometimes you just need to tip your cap and appreciate how good a team is.

Below I saw someone say we should be embarrassed about a 30 year wait, I’m not. It’s part of our history now and this team have ended it somewhat emphatically. But what this wait has done is make me appreciate what it is, I have no idea when the next triumph will be so I will enjoy it as much as I can.

Fergies achievements won’t be matched imo, and there is nothing wrong with that but you were spoiled with achievements and got to a point where you just expected it. So my advice would be next time you win it, and there will be a next time whether that’s next year 5 years or longer but enjoy it with those that matter most as you never know how long you could be waiting.

I write this btw, as someone who in my teens early twenties ‘hated’ seeing you be successful as it was always thrown in my face by my united supporting mates. Truth is, I shouldn’t of let it bother me but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

{Ed047's Note - great OP and great reply from two truly genuine posters.

I've offered my congratulations, they are the best team.
As for class in winning tho some of there fans are a disgrace, spitting on the holy trio statue at OT, Dixon Dean, floutingass gatherings rule. I've no problem with the achievements of the team but you can buy class.

{Ed047's Note - Welsh that’s a big stone to throw after the way United fans have behaved when you were winning things.

A subject left well alone mate. All clubs have their bad apples.

WYred,

Liverpool deserved the title and as I posted lower down, we should congratulate your team. I supported through every single year of our 26 long wait and Liverpool fans let us know about it, not least at Anfield in 92 with the banners. I saw all your great 70’s and 80’s teams, frustratingly formidable in the league, less so in cups, but I am not sure you will dominate like that, or like we did for 20 years. There is too much money now to create false clubs, whose history started in 2010.

One thing that seems forgotten in all this is the age of fans, my 26 years were from young to my thirties, in your 30 years how many fans have passed away and didn’t see this. I may not be around to see our next one, so the key message is enjoy it now as if it is your last. In 2013 I celebrated it heartily because knowing Moyes was coming in and seeing a team in decline I knew it would be our last for a while, Enjoy the feeling and keep hoping that we don’t have a change of owners that takes us forward like yours did.

Like it or loathe it, they’re a great side to actually watch play and are worthy champions this year. 😭😭😭.

I think I did say the scumbag element in my post but can't see it there now. I don't recall Leicester or Blackburn doing this with their 1 title win, an element of their fans of course not all amd not to knock the team as much deserved but it is a disgrace during a lockdown the behaviour, saying that Ed the whole country doesn't seem to give a damn anymore.

{Ed047's Note - I didn’t edit your post at all Welsh mate, I just feel it’s a subject best left alone.

Had you been a Leicester or Blackburn supporter I wouldn’t have needed to even mention it.

As for the population of this country and some of the stuff the mindless minority have been doing during lockdown, don’t even get me started!

Welsh, I think it comes down to basic numbers. In any fan base there is probably around 10% of the fans who are idiots, they are the ones who sing the offensive songs, start fights and are just generally uneducated morons.

The thing with United and Liverpool is we have far more fans than Blackburn and Leicester. If they have 500k fans then they have 50k idiots. But United and Liverpool have millions of fans all around the world.

It's reported that around 2000 people went to Anfield the night Liverpool won the title. Consider the size of the stadium, the sheer number of fans they have, then the number of people who gathered isn't that big.

United fans have acted without class as we won title after title. Yeah there will be some knobhead fans, and yes it's not going to be fun being a United fan over the next few months, maybe longer. But we need to just suck it up.

You are right Ed047, There are a minority of fans from many clubs who lack class.
No only in terms of footballing perspective but in other aspects as well.

{Ed047's Note - sad but true TRD

The most painful title win for most Utd fans due to the rivalry and definitely the right feeling. We know that feeling was felt the other way for years.
Deserving champions most definitely as City have been and we should not cveat it with anything and just take it as it just shows us as exactly what others portray us as.
Feel the pain and use it as a club to make the changes and get back to where we feel we deserve to be.
Took Klopp 4 years and I feel we are on a sililar path with Olly or a like minded manager who follows the ethos that has been set.
Congrats to the Scousers. the chase contunues.

Yeah, fair play lads. I'd pay to watch Liverpool and City just now. However, when your brother is a Liverpool fan, it makes it very difficult to say it, other than through gritted teeth 😁.

Brad, Ole is not Klopp. We are not on the same path as Liverpool were under him. Can you see us winning the Champions league in Oles 3rd season? Winning the league in his 4th? Considering he has had 18 months already.

Mumbles, what will you say if the club finishes in the top four and wins the FA cup AND the Europa League in Ole's first full season in charge?

27 Jun 2020 18:07:26
I'll say well done, good job. He's done the bare minimum in getting top 4 and always great to win some pots. If he does that then he's earned the right to be our manager on merit and he'll be judged on results next season instead of sentiment.

Must have deleted it and forgot to put it back Ed.
Yeah is what I mean the minority are classless, I've no issue with Liverpool winning it as they deserve too.
Yeah, best not turn the thread into a C.V. one ha.

{Ed047's Note - 🤣👍🏼

Mumbles, agree Olly is not Klopp and not even close but I would still argue we are on the correct path to rid the dead wood and bring in quality additions. I did say or similar manager as I can still see a change happening at some point.
I think our recruitment has improved us, the youngsters coming in have iroved us and on the whole we are better after arguably ollys year 1.
The next stage is key.
Few more quality additions in the right areas, bring on the youngsters and bed them In, address some glaring issues Still with in game management. Ideally bring in DOF and I know Eds is sceltical on this.
I am realistic that the title is a long way off. However after years of awful football and toxicity breeding in the fans I am staying positive. But realistic.
