Daniel James has a place in the squad for sure. He has a lot to work on but for his first full season at United and coping with his Dads death, I think the young lad has done well. We never planned to play him as much as we did. He looked knackered after a few months but he is quick and direct. His decision-making will come with experience.

Do we need another striker? We have Martial, Rashford, Greenwood and Ighalo until January. Hopefully Chong can push on and give us another wide option if we have to rotate.

If be happy with Sancho on his own. It's a huge transfer in this current climate. Bailey is back. Axel is fit again. I can see Fosu-Mensah playing there too if he recovers and kicks on right.

Another centre mid is needed. If Pogba stays then we need to give Pogba and Bruno the platform to perform. We don't always need a player running round making tackles and veing a desyroyer like Mctomminay. Sometimes, all we need is a player to take the ball from the centre backs and start moves from there. It pushes Pogba and Bruno 30 yards up the pitch to where they are dangerous and best used. Saul would be perfect but it's a big transfer too.

I can see Ole signing someone for the RW this year and leaving the midfield and defence another season. We will find out if Bailey ìs over his injuries and if Axel is ready to step up. With Maguire and Lindelof that is four good centre backs. I think he will give Matic another year and then move him on and then make the CM signing.

James isn't direct. He stops and passes back far too often. He's quick and that's it once we play against teams who sit deep he's useless because pace his only asset.

Once teams learnt how to stop him he's struggled. He needs to add more to his game.

I think 1 more season will decide if he's upto it or not.

We definitely need a RW maybe a lW aswell and definitely a CB.

If we didn't have so many options in CM I'd say need a CDM like one better than we got but that won't happen.

I'm with you W16, he shows the odd moment of brilliance but he's over rated imo and goes missing far to often for my liking. My brother in law is a United fan too and we have debated many a time over him, we've watched a fair few villa games this season and I'm yet to be wowed. He hasn't even been selected for England which to me speaks volumes. I'd take cantwell from norwich if we're looking for a gamble signing, which grealish would be. I'd rather us sign an established player who performs consistently and will take us to the next level.

The fee of 80m is outlandish. But so are many other fees. If villa go down it will be nearer 30-40 i'd say if they stay up probably 60m plus some add ons. Either way its big money.
Ed002 says he is a top target and we are keen.
He has a touch of arrogance about him on the ball he always wants it and has shown in flashes that he could be very good if he becomes more consistent. At united he needs to be at his highest level every week. He will be playing with better players but he will have to get used to sharing the limelight and play making.
He won't be a bad signing and could be a very good one. i'd be hopeful of the latter.
He is a bit too in consistent but at villa he has very little ahead of him you can see his frustration at times.

I do agree with what your saying ken I've just noticed over the season after one of the eds pointed it out how lazy he is. He never seems to bust a gut to get back and considering he's supposedly the most fouled player in the prem i'd argue how many times he's actually been fouled. I agree on fees the money is crazy but so is every fee these days. I just look at him n think he's a passenger at times for villa. Weve had plenty of those over the last few years n i don't tink we need more we need players that will give u everything everyweek to get us back to the top i don't see him as that. I may be being harsh he may sign for us or another team n shove these words back down my throat n i'd happily say i was wrong. I just feel that's say 40-80 mill that could be spent wiser.

Danny me and a mate where talking about cantwell on saturday he's a lad that i'd be shocked if he was playing in the championship next season.

I wouldn't be unhappy if we signed Grealish, but I do feel we could buy better players for half the price.
