I have been reading posts on here and I think people are getting goal difference mixed up with goals scored.

The goal difference for us and Leicester are equal and Leicester have scored 4 more goals.

Therefore if we beat West Ham then Leicester need to beat us by the same margin of goals, goals scored will not matter.

If our goal difference is better than Leicesters we will finish above them, regardless of goals scored. (I think!)

Nope. If we beat WestcHam by 4 Leicester will need to best use by 2.

I think you’re getting a little confused yourself there, buddy. If we beat West Ham, then Leicester need to beat us by half as many goals as we beat West Ham by.

That is unless we score 4 or 5 against West Ham, in which case Leicester would need to beat us by 1/ 2 our winning margin against West Ham + 1 (or + 0.5 if we beat West Ham by an odd number of goals) .

This is of course working on the assumption that we beat West Ham at all, which given their form and our performance on Sunday is by no means a given.

Leicester will not beat us. Provided De Gea comes up with some again a Poor a display. if Ole decide to have a defending tectic, he will have right on his face and their attack is penetrating and our defense is still fregile. So have a go at them score 1 or 2 before even thinking to seat back.

The way I understand it is a draw a one nil win or a 2 nil win mean the same thing for the west ham game regarding finishing above leicester as we would still require a draw against leicester.
A 3 goal win and 4 goal win against west ham both mean we could lose by one goal to leicester unless the 4 goal win was by 7 3.

Not Jrred,

In the game against Leicester the goals basically count double as one up for them will mean one down for us. Strange username also.

So goal difference doesn't make any difference anymore it goes on goals scored?

I just looked and we are both on Goal DIFFERENCE of 28.

If we beat West Ham 3-0 and Leicester beat US 3-0 then Leicester get 4th due to the goal DIFFERENCE being the same and goals SCORED in their favour.

Jaysus its quite simple.
If points are ssme the position is settled on goal difference.
If goal diff is the same its settled on today's scored
If that's the same its a play off.
If we beat west ham by 3 goals on wed then leicester need to beat us by 2 clear goals to go above us.
If we beat west ham by 1 goal any win for Leicester against us will see them finish above us on goal diff.

I was wrong on my 2nd post obviously I didn't and I think Original psoter didn't take into account as Leicester score against us our good goes down and theirs up.

If we beat west ham 4 nil we could still only lose by 1 to leicester as if we lost by 2 the good would still be the same but leicester would get it then on goals scored .
To gain a 2 goal buffer we would need a 5 goal win against west ham or a ridiculously high scoring 4 goal win .
A one or two goal win against west ham puts pressure on chelsea but duznt change much for leicester as if we draw with west ham or win one nil or 2 nil Leicesters task is the same just beat utd any margin .
Their is a scenario where if chelsea lost twice leicester would just need a draw against utd but as the last game is played at the same time they couldn't possibly play for that .
Obviously if we lost to west ham we would have to beat leicester unless chelsea lost both their games then we could draw with leicester but we couldn't possibly plan for that .
If all that is just confusing basically try and beat west ham by 3.

Jred i agree cheese will drop points.
But that's the one we can't control. There is a chance they could lose twice and miss out altogether we just can't rely on that or influence it. So i'm sort of blanking it out of my mind unless we are relying on their result with 20 mins to go.
I think Liverpool will be up for it on their presentation night and klopp quill not have been happy last week so hopefully they up their game.
Wolves will not be easy although they have el guaranteed so its not a crunch game for them.
3 goal win at west ham would give us a bit of breathing space and perhaps allow a bit less pressure going into the final game.
3 goal margin v West ham in our form of a couple of weeks ago is possible but its also a tall order but what a difference it would make.
