So Angel Gomes has ended up at Lille. With all due respect to them, where were all the top teams that were supposed to be interested in taking him?

This was supposed to be an indictment on the club's ability to keep our best young talent. Maybe, he just wasn't good enough yet.

He wants game time and to progress. With the garbage that has been getting I front of him this season, he knew it was time to move on. Lingard, Perriera, Mata have rarely contributed anything.

what's more bizzare is he is going on loan to midtable portugese team, so not even considered good enough to play consistently for lille right now.

Lille had a clear plan for his progression - sign and we will loan you here and get regular game time. Think that was the issue with us, we had no plan for him and no obvious pathway into the first team.

Mad Hatter,

Maybe all of them players put more effort in and performed better in training? It’s not like Gomes set the world slight when he did play and was unlucky to not keep his place. Williams was given a chance and took it, Greenwood the same, we are happy to give kids the chance, so just maybe he wasn’t good enough. Where he’s ended up would suggest that to be the case.

Exactly. Could have stayed and been loaned from here. Each to their own - good luck to him.

What are these magical chances you speak of GDS?

I’m sorry I don’t understand.

Three games against fairly weak Europa league opposition. Where he drifted in and out of the game, and made very little impact against either of Astana or Alkmaar. Not creating any chances or getting close to scoring.
