cant believe we are not in for Havertz. great little player. fantastic movement, brilliant left foot, and not too slow either.

Chelsea have a better manager are really building for the future with a discernible style of play and proper management plus the allure of living in London makes them more attractive.

Chelsea have a proper manager who came below us in the league and has such a brilliant tactical mind that he lost 6-0 over the two premier league games between us and them this season.

Behave Salford and leave the Lampard love-in to the papers.

{Ed047's Note - both managers were miles away so neither any good in reality

Isnt his best position as a number 10 where we just signed bruno to play?

Unless people have had enough of bruno already lol.

Exactly DSG.
Bruno has mind blowing stats already in half a season. In addition to that he is a leader.

We need an out and out right winger which is Sancho.

His adaption to English football will be much easier as he has already played his rookie years in Manchester.

I think that's the issue with Havertz, he is clearly a hugely talented player. Yet he is best used centrally, and with us signing Bruno in January for a big fee to play in the central creative midfield role, it really doesn't make much sense to spend a further 90m on another player to play the same role.

We need someone who could play a creative role from deeper in midfield. As cover/ replacement for Pogba should he leave.

We need a RW, and we need a CB worthy of being first choice for a club with title ambitions.

However, first and foremost we need to clear the decks of several average players who are claiming large wages and contributing very little.

bruno has taken this team to a new level, albeit we are still not at a level where we can compete for the title. The main difference between Chelsea and united at this point in time is the people and structure Frank has to support him - something one of the Eds mentioned a while ago. THat comes through in recruitment and player contracts especially. Meanwhile we are working off a shopping list and getting our pants pulled down.

Havertz can cover the RM, LM and AM positions adn would be a better fit than Grealish and may also be a better fit than Sancho. Plus we could do with another left footed forward.

Ryan, there's some truth that havertz can play across those three forward positions but most of his time at leverkusen has been spent centrally, where we already have a key player.

When there is a clearly available top winger available in sancho, i can see why the club is chasing him to fill the rw spot over havertz.

Can’t believe we aren’t signing a Bruno replacement already 😂😂😂😂😂

Oh and Frank Lampard? Please.

Megbri looks a player, if he develops next season we may have a player.

But Arteta is the second coming Ed047, haven't you heard? He took you from 9th to 8th😂😂😂.

{Ed047's Note - I’m not pretending Arteta is taking us anywhere mate, on the other hand you guys...🤣🤣🤣

12.) 07 Aug 2020
07 Aug 2020 13:31:08
Shoosh Ed047, our's took us from 66 points last season to a whole new level of 66 points this season. don't you see progress? Better behave or else people will gang up on you and tell you that you don't support football.

{Ed047's Note - well to be fair they’ve being saying next year is our year since 2013 so it’s gotta come true at some stage Shan.🤣

I don't think any United fan should be playing manager top trumps against other teams.

We should be quietly going about our business not worrying about anyone else.

Maze or no Maze someone got to keep you guys on your toes isn't it. else it would be boring with everyone calling Ole as Jesus.
I stand by what i said for Rashford is not a striker, has improved as a forward but not a striker. He lacks that striker's instinct.

I am not calling for Ole to be sacked right now given that he has achieved top 4 albeit by others poor performance rather than ours being better but still. We were 80+ points season before last and now at 66 even though we have replaced the "dross and poor" players with "United Way" players. So, my expectations are higher. I know Liverpool, Real, Barcelona, City, Juve will not be looking at Ole when they need a manager. I look at these teams and the level i want to reach.

18.) 07 Aug 2020
07 Aug 2020 15:46:47
You’re right Shan, none of us who think that Ole as Jesus (sic) want to reach the level of the top teams in Europe. What a thing to suggest. Also, you’re obsessed by points aren’t you? League position means more than anything, just ask Liverpool fans about last season. Time to drop the agenda maybe and be a little more fluid in your stand point.

19.) 07 Aug 2020

You mean one of his alter egos, right Shappy?

Jred then why are you replying?

Alty Jim, remind me again why was Jose sacked then. We finished 2nd that season, right? Do you think 66 points would be enough next season to keep us in the top 4?

23.) 07 Aug 2020
07 Aug 2020 17:39:38
You know Jose was sacked halfway through the next season when he was going to finish nowhere near 2nd.

24.) 07 Aug 2020
07 Aug 2020 23:36:15
I couldn’t possibly say 100% but I could guess. Going from 2nd place to clearly nowhere near doesn’t look great. Going from bad to better, then better to even better does look good, and worth some credit.

As it happens, no, I don’t think 66 will be enough for 4th next season as I think more points will be nicked off the current top 2. There are only so many points available in the league, ergo if it’s close at the top, the points will be lower for the eventual winner with the chad in pack having higher points. What I will give you is that 4th would not be seen as progress next season, but given how far ahead city and Liverpool are, I want to see progress in terms of playing style and the like if 3rd is to be our ultimate position.

Shan, would you take 4th next year if we got more than 66 points? Or 5th if we somehow broke 100 points?

25.) 08 Aug 2020
08 Aug 2020 09:36:44
Shan, would you be calling for Ole to be sacked next summer if he wins the league with 65 points?

Unlikely I know, but the points gained in a season are relative to that season and to the performances of other teams as much as your own.

With the gap between the top and the bottom widening in terms of money spent on wages and transfer fees, the gap in point is also widening.

There was a time you wouldn't survive without 40 points, at least one team has managed that every year for the past 7 years, two or three on occasions.

When Man City played Bournemouth just their bench, the 7 players not starting on the match day cost more than the entire Bournemouth squad, and earned more than the entire Bournemouth starting 11.

The use of points as a marker across multiple seasons is a poor one, as it doesn't hold any context.
