Ed002 what are your thoughts o the EPL clubs overall voting against 5 subs?

Do you think it was a missed opportunity as it allowed clubs to rotate more players and perhaps even blood the odd youngster more easily?

{Ed002's Note - It was expected. The vote asked for the change to five substitutes to be endorsed for next season but there were only nine of the required 14 in favour of it.

The objections were based on many sides having a far stronger depth of squad it would be giving them an advantage. If there were not to be a reduction in games next season it may well of passed. So it is OK.}

Erm. Reduction in the number of games? Has a system been discussed as to how this might work?

This could potentially have a huge impact both at the top and bottom of the table if we end up in a position where team A might have to play Liverpool and City twice while team B only plays them once and has extra games against Villa and Newcastle instead (assuming both teams are competing for the same spot) . I can only assume we’ll end up with a system like the SPL where the table splits in half at some point and each side of the table plays extra games against teams in the same half.

Does this mean that Premier League teams will only play 28 league games each next season?

{Ed002's Note - No, you have missed the point. There is no reduction in PL games.}

I think the reduction in games will be EPL teams possibly entering the FA cup later than round 3. Or the scrapping of the league cup.

I'd imagine there will be a change in the qualifying rounds for European competitions as this year's competition won't finish until the end of August, normally there would have been some qualifying rounds at the end of July.
