So what's the team going to look like tomorrow.
In reality it should be a cakewalk no matter who we put out. Looking ahead to a semi final i can see him putting out a strong side. I expect to see the top front 3 and Back 4.mctom bruno and pogba with maybe matic held back.
Id like to see us go for it and then and if things go to plan withdraw a few key players.

Despite our qualification for CL i think this is really important. Winning this tournament will only galvanise this team and will help ole bring the momentum into next season.
As a fan i want to see a real desire and hunger to win.

For me its the difference between this season being a success instead of just showing a modicum of improvement.
The players and coaches have an opportunity to be winners and for ole to get that of never won anything off his back.

For ole it is massive for the young players uts massive.
Going into the season this would have been priority no2 imo. So i really do wish them well.

Full strength for me and make changes when the games sealed. They’ve had a good rest now, and 5 days between each game should be okay.

Hope the players don’t go into it thinking it will be a cakewalk. Huge game for Copenhagen and we will need to perform well. I think we might struggle against Sevilla in the semi final, if they play how they did against Roma they will knock out wolves and then give us one hell of a game.

Its never a cake walk. we are United, we are famous for doing things the hard way. Mostly.

Agree mostly Ken

Not sure about it being a cakewalk, however, agree on the importance for Ole and the players. There is nothing like winning things as a team, it also generates confidence. Should we get to the final there will be three different games and strategies which have to be overcome. Let’s see how we approach it and adapt if things are not going right. I haven’t researched Copenhagen but seem to remember reading they were managed by someone Ole admires (Solbakken? or something like that) . Tonight is their cup final, we have to play well. Next two weeks is important and I want to see us lift that cup.

Well we will hopefully have a better squad by next season Ken but I don't think there is any shame in having a tough game with Sevilla in the EL, they are a very good side and perform well in the competition most years.

Sevilla are the most successful side in the competition winning it a record 5 times between 2006-2016.

No other side has won it more than 3 times.

So they certainly wouldn't be a push over if we make it past Copenhagen, which isn't a given.

The new format for this season with it being a single leg knockout means one mistake and you're out. A goalkeeping blunder, a poorly defended set piece, giving away a penalty.

While the neutral venues and single leg style will be potentially a huge leveller.

I think we should still make it at least to the semis. Yet as the level of competition increases the likelihood of us being able to gain a two goal or more lead during a game decreases while which makes you one mistake away from failure.

Juve have only every had 1 non Italian manager and he was one of their most decorated ex players.

Copenhagen may be easier opponents on paper but it’s cup football. Anything can happen. Sevilla (likely) would be tough opponents in the semi as obviously Inter (likely) would be in the final. Win next 3 games and this season is a successful one as we’d have won silverware. That and UCL qualification should be the minimum we look for. Need to start on the front foot tonight. Appreciate team were tired after the premier comeback and games in quick succession / Ole sticking largely to his best XI. But a few games where it took 2mins to settle down. Just can’t afford that in cup football. Really hope we win the Europa. Success breeds success. And besides Ole would be officially a better manager than the never won anything Pochettino then!

Halesini, what's with the hatred for Pochettino? Shappy as well having a go at him further down the page. Seems to be common trope that posters have to prop Ole up by slagging off other managers. Ed47 can't post without someone mentioning Arteta. Oles head Cheerleader on here gets itchy feet if he doesn't mention Jose at least once every two days.

Ole done a decent job finishing 3rd. There are still question marks of course, but trying to prop him up by putting others down isn't the way to show he's up for the job.

any team other than our first team spells trouble.

we struggled against the mighty larsk

we need to play our strongest 11 get the job done

its not about given fringe players a chance. this is to get a trophy on ole's blank CV.

momentum is what we need going into next season, there will be no normal pre season games, we need to hit the ground running and start fast

start with the best team available.

That's a fine post mumbles.
You've drawn a line in the sand there, each to their own, you mumbles are a breath of fresh air😂😂😂.

Mumbles - Pochettino is regularly talked about as being a future United manager. With suggestions that we’ve been in talks with him about the role. Ole had done nothing managerially to suggest he could manage United. And neither has Pochettino. Both never won anything (of significance in Ole’s case) . But rightly or wrongly Ole got the gig.

The point is we have a bad run of games and Ole is out of his depth, should’ve never have got the job etc. But people like Pochettino, who are equally unqualified, are a default flavour of the month when jobs at top clubs come up.

Shappy makes the point in a related thread that if Pochettino is that fantastic a manager why has nobody snapped him up?

Ole is our manager and, as we are entitled to do, takes a lot of stick if things aren’t going well. I’m not seeing how pointing out Pochettino has precisely the same credentials as Ole at the mo is in some way putting him down.

Outside a few fans of Man Utd, there is no one in world football who thinks Ole is a better manager than Pochettino.

Ole didn't deserve the United, could/ should have been sacked twice. But he did enough to secure Champions League football so he deserves to have another go next year. Bringing up Pochettinos record to someone try make Ole seem better is a weird tactic.

Ken good post by the way! I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Cakewalk later mate.

No bother mumbles. we are not living in north Korea or hong kong mate so jump on any thread you like😂.

10 Aug 2020 18:14:48
When ed2 and ed01 said ole is not good enough, the ole fan boys avoided that thread, but using ole to compare poch is an insult.

19.) 10 Aug 2020
10 Aug 2020 19:25:31
I just don't get the need to compare them.
Ole is the manager i doubt that is going to change anytime soon.
Im not even sure poch is the darling or ask for most united fans that don't want ole.
I know a few here wanted poch before ole was appointed. We will never know if he would have done any better.
If we win the EL and start hot next season there will be no talk of a change of coach. If we don't win EL and have a poor start in the league then ole will come under pressure quickly.

{Ed047's Note - that’ll be Ole under pressure again next year then ken 😉
