There are quite a few of us now saying to walk away from the Sancho Deal. Same as clubs walked away form our Pogba valuation. We may want him, but Dortmund have a price and we all know its too much. We should get Chiesa and a decent centre back.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m not sure Sancho is this world class footballer everyone is making him out to be. He’s for sure not worth 100 million british pounds...but you guys have tones of money and love overpaying for players. So expect another Ed Woodward masterclass in negotiation.

Can't see us walking away unfortunately. Sancho is a very good player but Dortmund always get excellent deals for their players and United over the last few years have always had plenty of cash and very little sense. Deals for Falcao, Di Maria, Schweinsteiger, Sanchez, Maguire and plenty more have shown that. I'd fully expect this to drag on then United to just pay the money anyway.

Negotiation means the other side, in this case Dortmund have to think you are willing to walk away. They likely know that we are too keen already so can sit and wait for us to break. They think a fool and his money.

At this time C.V. is causing issues with finances, it would be naive to shell out that much right now unless they are very sure this is the real deal, the new Ronaldo. On one hand I don’t want to let the owners think they can keep more of the money back, I also don't want to get fleeced, which we will do in poor negotiations. The first moment Dortmund set dates should have been met by us walking away until/ unless they stopped all that nonsense, wait until we want to go back in. You can’t negotiate like we are.

I would therefore walk away, concentrate on other purchases, identify an alternative and seriously think about it. At the moment Dortmund are playing us and it’s embarrassing to watch.

Dembele, coutinho, felix, griezmann all went for well over a 100mil . Mbappe was around 150 and neymar close to 200mill.

Sancho at 20 years tied to a 3 year contract is a 100mil player .
At that age football ability and commercial appeal why would BD sell him for less.

It depends on if they need the money for other purchases.
I don't think they are under any financial pressure though.

How much was bruno again? That's right, no one cares because he a good signing.

Anyone recall the virgil van dyk signing, and how outrageous Liverpool were in pursuit and then how much they over paid? No, that's right. No one cares, because he has proved to be one of the signings off the decade.

The money is all forgotten in the long run if the transfer is a successful one. Everyone remembers the disasters that don't work out. Money us only wasted on all the bad signings.

So the decision all comes down to how much they believe he will transform the team.

But the numbers quoted make me weep for football, especially at a time when the world is in economic crises.

I think the German league has got the money and club structures more right than we have. But now we have made our bed and I guess we have to lie in it.

{Ed0666's Note - with all due respect mate we didn’t overpay for VVD he was a bargain in comparative terms. If the comparison is Harry McGuire because he’s the most expensive defender in world football

At the time I would say Liverpool overpaid. Obviously hindsight is a beautiful thing and now everyone can see he's the best CB in the world he was a snip. Nobody thought that when he was bought though and so It could be the same for Sancho.

In other words Ed0666, you mean VvD is no Andy Carroll.

{Ed0666's Note - Touché my friend...I’ll see you’re Andy Carroll and raise you Mkhytaryan and Sanchez...

Ed. This is my point precisely. At the time of completion there were a fair few liverpool fans wincing at the price. And many utd and other fans saying you over paid and you could have bought varane, etc etc for less money.

But clearly he has been one of the best signings in the last 10 years, and now looks a bargain. He moved the goal posts for CB pricing. But I bet you wouldn't trade him back!

Harry may likewise look pricey now. Let's see in a year, but I would swap you VVD if you prefer 🤔😁.

{Ed0666's Note - I think you’re right Dodgy VVD did move the goalposts for CB pricing but we overpaid due to us courting him the wrong way had we done it right we’d have paid a lot less, but that’s on us but as you say it didn’t turn out to badly. Now with regards to McGuire I think you have the worlds most expensive defender and he doesn’t deserve the mantle. I wouldn’t even swap my mother in law for him! Yes he’s that bad.
