So todays sancho related drama is news outlets reporting the problem is stemming from the agents fees.

If only someone had told us about this months ago 🤔🤔🤔🤔.

I think it’s time we admit that sancho isn’t coming. he will probably head to Spain or even Liverpool next season. I’m really not sure who we will bring in this summer, I just have a feeling that it could well be a disappointment for ole and for us. Hope I am wrong.

Still more than 50 days to go. It will be mad to commit all money towards Sancho.

It’s an irresponsible amount of money in an unprecedented time. I don’t think there will be deals of this magnitude taking place in this window like there would usually be. For me I can’t see anyone else vying for his signature either, I feel Utd should sit tight for another season and go all then, when things are clearer. Leaving the RW position up in the air. A loan signing perhaps, or more diverse player who can operate on both wings and still be of use should Sancho still be a target next summer.

Normally I would say that Dortmund are posturing to get the deal they want, and they may well be.

However, this seems more like they are putting their foot down. They have a phenomenal player in Sancho, Dortmund with Sancho have a shot at winning the league next year, without him they are only playing for second place.

He has three years left on his deal and they are under no pressure to sell. They set their stall out early, this is the price and it needs to be done by this date. I still suspect a deal could be done but only by paying the 120m asking price with no stipulations. However I don't think we will pay it.

Time to move on and find better value elsewhere before we end up scraping the barrel on the final day for a wildly overpriced decidedly average player.

It just smacks of an incompetent transfer strategy.

Sancho has a ridiculous price tag. Every other interested side has rightly deemed it too high, and moved on. Yet, here we are thinking that a club with no desire or need to sell will just lower their price because Man Utd are interested.

The selling club has set their price. The player isn’t going to go on strike. Either pay it or move on to other targets. Same nonsense with Bruno last summer, they just don’t learn.

The deal will happen. Ed won't want to lose face.

7.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 11:47:21
Tim,

If we can’t afford him he won’t be going to Liverpool.

8.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 12:10:49
Why gds2? Next summer salah or mane could go for more than sancho would cost. But you don't know that nobody does.

9.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 12:54:42
James, I'm almost certain that the only way to get the deal done now is to agree to the 120m asking price. They might accept installments but not based on performances.

They won't sell for a penny less than 120m.

So Ed Woodward's options are lose face by not signing him, or lose face by caving into their demands and over pay (in this market) .

Being a money man if he is going to lose face I'm sure he would rather do it without spunking loads of money up the wall.

10.) 14 Aug 2020

Ken - because Mane and Salah will both be 29 by next summer transfer window, with styles reliant on pace. The usual clubs that would attract these players (Barca and Real) are both struggling financially and unlikely to solve their issues this summer given the overall global situation, so I can't see them stumping up more than it would cost for Sancho for a player with no resale value - why wouldn't they just sign Sancho instead? Unfortunately for Liverpool I think they've missed the last chance to get seriously big money for their 2 most saleable assets.

11.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 13:11:47
Yeah they kept their assets and won the league and cl. Thank god for not in charge.

12.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 13:22:40
If sancho doesn't go this year and things start to return to normal he will go for far more next summer .

13.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 13:46:15
I don't think it will be much more the 100m either way. I see a difficult season ahead in terms of finances for lots of clubs. Incomes will be down substantially.

14.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 14:08:57
Ken - as a fan I'd always rather have trophies than the money, but Ed2 has repeatedly told the Liverpool fans that they are basically skint so I can't see them buying at £100m+ unless they sell. someone for the same or more. Who in their squad is going to go for that type of money next year?

15.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 14:37:35
AA80 They will still spend 60m this summer skint and all.
If they get 60 70 for salah or mane they can top up the rest to buy sancho next summer easily.
What would vvd command if he fancies a move? He was tapped up by Liverpool who is to say madrid don't tap him up next?
Nobody knows what will happen.
Id like sancho at united but if we can't afford it or its unreasonable we will move on to another target.
If Liverpool have a season next year like they did this their finances will ease and improve substantially. They can't spend big this summer but they will be in a better place next summer.

16.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 15:11:25
I think a lot of teams will be in a better place next summer and there will be less uncertainty.
Hence I tbink BD will get more for sancho next year.

17.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 14:58:14
What I’d like to know is. what exactly have we been doing during the lockdown etc. We are always disorganised in a transfer window and never seem to have a strategy, but this year with everything you would have thought they would have been prepared properly. As ed002 has said many times AMATEURS.

18.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 15:38:55
Why do you think a lot of teams will be in a better place jred?
Their finances were only affected for 3 months this season next year it will be a lot longer than that. Debt payments have been shelved by lots of clubs so getting them back in line will take precedence before squad investment.
Cash will be tighter. Costs will rise significantly like for most businesses.
Next seasons finances and incomes will be lower than this season without doubt.
So i don't know why you think clubs will be better off financially, in nearly all cases finances will be worse next year, how much worse will depend on restrictions of course.

19.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 15:44:52
I understand jred your thinking but i really only believe that successful clubs will be better off next season.
Tv money and prize money and sponsorship money is linked to success. So very few will prosper the rest, i think we will be included in that will not be better off income wise.
That's why i think liverpool will do will be in a better spot. Maybe city.
With so much uncertainty about its hard to see many clubs spending big for the next couple of Windows. Of course some will. We have 350m in the bank in cash for example but others are not in such a fortunate position.

20.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 16:21:11
Maybe we have moved on and are looking at other options and that's why no official bid has been made.

21.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 16:39:13
Ken you have answered your own question.

22.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 16:42:02
Teams down the pecking order who rely more on match day money will have a harder time . But I don't think the likes of Carlisle will try to sign sancho regardless.

23.) 14 Aug 2020
14 Aug 2020 17:11:35
Dortmund are playing hardball. They have an asset on a reducing contract that could brake his leg on the first day of the season and be worth half that by nest season. Dortmund have always been a selling club but also pragmatic. They remain competitive most seasons while giving youngsters a place to shine. They buy low and sell high. They want 120 mill Euros and want most of it upfront and that's the key issue. Not that we won't go that high.

Dortmund have us by the balls. Everyone knows we want Sancho. Everyone also knows that United are total mugs when it comes to negotiating. We may look at other targets but if we don't buy Sancho and go sniffing elsewhere, other clubs know that the Sancho money is sitting there and will pull our pants down and we end up paying 80 mill for Grealish or someone.

I beleive the deal will happen. It's posturing. United knew all along how much they wanted overall and can't be shocked that they want most of it upfront like Dembele. Their finances are just as insecure as most over clubs so when a golden cow like United come along when times are hard, they will milk is dry.

To be honest the only people talking about a transfer are BD.
