I saw Smalling linked a few times over recent days with Inter Milan - and then having watched the Europa cup semi final and final and seeing Skriniar on the bench what can you watchers of Italian football tell me about him being dropped from the first team? . last year he was one of the most sought after CH in Europe

I know we are not linked with him. just curious .

I think Skriniar and Content had a bust-up and so Content dropped him. It was said that Conte wants him sold but his own future at Inter is quite up in the air so don't know who will end up leaving first. Skriniar or Conte?

I think that is the situation but don't quote me on that.

No idea to be honest.
Ed002 did say he is potentially for sale and that there is interest from a couple of clubs. So perhaps that's why.
Martinez up top is a lovely player i think barcelona are hoping to sign him so if they get big money for skriniar perhaps they could hang on to him.
Looks a bit of an uneasy relationship conte has with the board there. Despite losing the league by a point.
Smalling had a good season and at today prices even during c. v. is a real bargain at 20m for any club. Good pro and ideally suited to the Italian league particularly in a back 3. Good pro well rounded i really hoe he gets the move he wants. He comes across as a good bloke.

In a 4 at the back Skriniar was one of the highest rated centre backs in the world.

Conte has come in, changed the system to 3 at the back and Skriniar has become lost positionally, and ultimately as a defender when you are lost positionally you are lost defensively.

Hence why he has been dropped. A shame for Inter as they have such a great defender sitting on their bench, however they are playing miles better as an overall unit.

Heeds the reason why Sir Alex was famously known not for buying the best players in the world, but the players who best fit the system. Talent isn’t everything.

Mpez, good to see you here.

Do you think he'd be a fit for us?

Thanks guys- looks like a new manager going into Inter, Conte seems to be on his way out . not the easiest guy to play for.

I think Skriniar would be a superb addition and would comfortably slot in on the left hand side of our back 4 which is his preferred position (even though I think he is right footed)
Strong in the tackle and good in the air, he is comfortable on the ball as well. His problems at Inter this year are less his ability more there move to a back 3 where he is caught out a bit positionally.
Our chances of getting him might revolve around whether Conte stays, if he does he will move on. If Conte leaves then the new manager will most likely want to keep him.

{Ed0666's Note - It’s a matter of when Conte leaves mate. The owner and Conte don’t have the best of working relationships
