Am I alone in thinking that we should just walk away from the sancho deal. We don't want to pay what dortmund want nor what his agents wants or the player himself wants all of which suggest that a deal is unlikely.
For a lot less money we could target for example Brooks and one out of say Costa or dembele any 2 of which would be an improvement on pereira and mata wide on the right as well as strenghthening our squad. With the couple of sales we would also have sufficient monies to make a third signing should the right player become available.
My worry is that we spend the next few weeks focusing on sancho only and then end up scrambling for players at the end of the transfer window and after next season has already started.

I agree that it is time to stop pursuing Sancho.
I think we should try for some or all of the following:-

Brooks of Bournemouth who has a flexibility and agility we need.
Adama Traore who can play on either wing
Grealish of Villa who can influence a game.
Rice of West Ham as a defensive midfield option
Tarkowski as an extra defender
Alaba as an attacking fullback option.
Scmeichel as a goal keeping alternative

At least we will be guaranteed quality players with PL Experience.

I see the situation like this.

Sancho is clearly a top level talent, and he is English which always adds a premium. Havertz looks like going for 100m and Sancho has outperformed him over the last two seasons, so I think Dortmund have every right to expect 100m+ for Sancho.

The club now need to make a decision, if Sancho is the one they want and they can afford the 120m+ which Dortmund are fairly asking for then do it, stop messing around and get the deal done.

If the club can't afford or are unwilling to pay the asking price then walk away and start working on other deals.

Either way a decision needs to be made ASAP, alternative targets are being snapped up. There are no bargains for top level talent available in the last week or two of the window.

The teams that handle their transfer business best often have deals lined up before the season has finished. Chelsea signing Ziyech in January this year and Pulisic January last year. Chelsea still in the UCL when they agreed Werner. Bayern agreeing a deal for Sane before their season had ended.

Yeah I don't understand what the negotiation is all about if Dortmund are adamant on price. We are just wasting precious time and energy. Move on and get an alternative if we can't afford it. If coman is available and wants to come then get it done even if it's a loan. I'd even take perisic for a couple of years he would definitely improve us and is still a very good player he's proved that in the champions league knock out stages. We need depth in quality. If there's a player out there who improves us whether they are surplus to requirements it shouldn't matter it's all about being shrewd in the market!

Im reading Bayern are saying Coman is going nowhere- but I take your point .

When you say walk away - that would imply we have entered into negotiations- which we have not as have submitted no bid!

Dont know if i'm the only one but none of the alternatives suggested for sancho seem goods buys in my opinion.

Chiesa, coman, brooks etc. Unless there's an alternative out there that i'm missing, it looks really bare in terms of forward positions outside of sancho.

That being said wouldn't mind bringing wilf zaha back to the club, can play on both sides, good enough to start in the prem but not good enough to have his nose out of joint if mason greenwood takes up his game time.

There are plenty of players out there just don't have shiny clubs buendia, Saint maximum and suso have been decent this season just not names the papers can sell story's with as much as a sancho.

DSG, there are plenty of options. Just very few who are as big a name as Sancho at the moment. He's had a couple of excellent years playing for the second best team in a fairly poor league. While many of the other options have been playing either in tougher leagues and/ or for much poorer sides.

While a great player will still produce good performances in a poor side, the absolute level of those performances will be adversely effected by the quality of his teammates.

If you don't receive quality balls, well timed and in good areas of the pitch then what you can do when you receive that ball will be limited.

I’d definitely take Zaha back.
Depay if he can grow up too.

Loaned out a perfectly good RW in Chong.

Eric sorry but our lass is a better winger than Chong!
I know he is a kid but he’s as strong as a weatherspoons ale and his butcher is a vegan . He is nowhere near epl standard in fact championship defenders would carve him in two.

You make it seem like the transfer people wake up every morning and go to talk to Dortmund about Sancho, all day everyday. There's got to be more to transfers than that surely.
