Ed001,

With Utd being linked with Telle and Reguilon, how do you rate both players?

Who do you think would be best suited to the EPL?

{Ed001's Note - tough one that, they are pretty similar, great going forward not so hot defensively. I have seen a lot more of Telles and he often looks good, but mostly I have not seen him put under real defensive pressure. They both look fast and strong enough for the Prem and fit enough to charge up and down for 90 minutes. I would have to say Telles has impressed more but he is at his peak and so should do! Also Telles is playing in a weaker league, so that might be why he looks better. But, on the face of it, Telles looks a better bet. The fact that Wolves have shown interest would also suggest he would be a good choice, they don't make many mistakes in the transfer market these days.}

From what I've seen of them I think Ed001 is bang on the money. There really isn't a great deal between them, and they are very similar is style.

However, I think for United Alex Telles makes more sense. We have a lot of very good or promising full backs. Obviously we have Shaw (24), AWB (22), Dalot (21), Williams (19), Laird (19) then the two Spanish lads from Barcelona and Real Madrid who are 16/ 17 just joining the academy.

While on the whole we have a lot of good young players, but lack quality players in their prime. Arguably our best players are DDG, Maguire, Pogba and Bruno all of them are between 25-30 when players hit their peak.

Signing Alex Telles at 27 would add another.

Thanks ED001. Wolves are fast becoming a Portuguese team. They seem to sign very good players.

What do you make of the Fabio Silva signing?

{Ed001's Note - from what I have heard they have got themselves a special talent there. It has to be considered a coup for them to get him.}

Ddg and maguire are not our best players by any stretch of the imagination based on last seasons form.

But i do agree that with a young frontline we could with some more experience at the back.

Hatter, I have a friend who lives in Lisbon and is a huge Benfica fan. When all the fuss was being made a couple of years ago about João Felix he said then (through gritted teeth) that Fabio Silva at Porto was going to be the better player long term.

He also feels that while Ruben Dias looks better on the ball, it is Ferro who is the better defender.

ED001 they appear to have signed him for a relatively low fee aswell. He could turn out to be a bargain buy.

{Ed001's Note - looks like he will mate.}

Maguire wasn't even one of Leicester's best players.

Ole, “ “I'm delighted that we got Harry in, He's going to be great for this club. He was my number one target, and of course it took some time, but it does sometimes take time.

”I, more or less, made my mind up when we played Leicester last season that if it's possible to get him we should try, because he's so composed on the ball and he gives the team another dimension. ”

Are you saying our Manager got this wrong?

Actually I think the issue is who he is partnered with and he will be better with the right partner.

I'm saying Maguire isn't good enough. What's Ole going to say, "we would have liked a world class defender but Maguire was really the only option on the market, so we had to make do"? There's a tendency to pay too much attention to what managers and players say in press releases and conferences.

I remember watching Maguire in the World Cup and thinking he was a liability, an accident waiting to happen, he appeared no better than Smalling. Nothing he has done this year makes me think otherwise. I actually believe that on his day Lindelof is a better defender and that Bailly, when fit and confident is better than both. I'd actually much prefer United to look at a solid partner for Lindelof, but that's never going to happen.

All the improved stats in defence, I would actually credit to the addition of AWB, that position was in need of being seen to for many years, not having Valencia or Young used as a makeshift right back has made a huge difference.

We are all entitled to opinions, I don’t think Lindelof is good enough.

Ole didn’t say we, in the quote, he said I. That can be a subtle difference if you are not 100% happy. Maguire may not be the best but I want to see him with a better partner and judge him then.

Yet, I seem to recall Koulibaly and De Ligt being first choice last summer. Koulibaly wasn't really available (or was for a very hefty price) and De Ligt chose Juventus. I seem to remember United only moving in for Maguire once De Ligt finalised his move. I think not being in the CL limited our options, and Solskjaer and the club accepted what was available given the circumstances.

I believe Soyuncu was the better Leicester defender and there didn't seem to be much of a huge difference between Maguire and Evans, and the latter was never good enough for United. In fact Leicester conceded less this past season.

I think we should've signed a better partner for Lindelof red man. I think he's the better player.
