[ESPN] on average since saf leaving we have spent 85 mil on players following CL qualification and when we've missed out on qualification 161 mil. No ambition with these owners to put together a title winning team and challenge. Content with top 4 and the money that comes with it. Eric, it's not about the amount of money spent per se. It's about the ambition of the owners. They are happy to spend big when we NEED to get into the UCL (as income would drop significantly if we don't), but once we are there they spend the minimum required. You could argue that while we had Sir Alex we spent less as Sir Alex kept us challenging.

The question is do the owners have the ambition to push on beyond the top four? Because it's starting to look like they haven't.
