Rashford, martial good enough to win PL for United?
Rashford is very poor in decision making, Martial loses possession 8/ 10 times.
Need a Eden Hazard like player and a world class striker to think of PL title. (Plus Defenders)
Rashford, Martial like players are good for countering Man. City like teams, for lower teams who sit back and defend those two won't cut it.

Against Crystal palace if the scoreline was 3-3 or United won by 4-3 we can blame defense alone as our weakness. United attack was very predictable/ readable and easy to counter.

Need a Hazard type player? Rash and Martial are a waste of space? . Chelsea fan?

For me Hazard is one of the most overrated players in PL history. Hense why he looks mediocre at Madrid!

MM, I think Rashford and Martial are a couple of the few players we have who are good enough to win the league for United. Both scored 20 goals last season while having injury disrupted seasons in a team that wasn't playing great and for most of the season struggled to create good goal scoring chances.

Both would have scored 30+ goals had they been in a City side with KDB, David Silva and Mahrez creating chances for them.

I sometimes feel like United fans spend so much time watching our own team that we see all the tiny little mistakes and think our players are trash because of them. While 90% of the other games we watch are just the highlights so we think everyone else has great players.

If we put Rashford up for sale tomorrow PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona and even Bayern Munich would be interested and he'd probably go for north of 100m. Hardly a bad player.

This is why I am grumpy. Rashford carried the team until he got injured, he was finally starting to look like a top top player. I’m not a Martial fan but he also stepped up, effort was excellent, and scored more than in any other season. And then we get a United fan (apparently) posting this. I give up.

Martial is not a good enough out and out striker in my opinion. He has spells but he doesn’t instil confidence that he can be the main guy. None of them do to be frank.

Correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t our front 3 the top scoring trio in all comps last season?

There are clearly positions where we need to improve but it seems some people want an entirely new squad.

Wazza,

They didn’t score in a couple of games mate, they are crap and we are doomed.

For Me, martial is not consistent or good enough for that matter to lead the line. I think he would be a good ootion, an alternative. I would love to see us sign a starting RW and push greenwood up top to compete with Martial.

Rashford just needs to find his feet again but a fantastic player.

Where were the front two of Rashford and Martial in FA cup semifinal against Chelsea and in Europa League against Sevilla?
If United want to win the title then 100 points is the requirement (set by City and liverpool for last two seasons) .
With Martial, Rashford as our main strikers/ attacking players can't see United tearing apart team after team to get 100 points.
@obi. Hazard over rated? He is an excellent player. Infact United were in pole position to sign him don't know why he went to Chelsea. If you watch individual goals scored by Messi you will say C. Ronaldo is overrated.
@angelred. I agree greenwood should play on top.
@Shappy. I watch City, Liverpool and Chelsea games not just highlights. last week Chelsea was not good at all.

Young players. Already very good. We have seen them develop hugely and they will continue to improve.

Maestro has a point here. Rashford when good he seems unplayable, when he is in bad form its like we are playing with ten men, but I understand that he can't be the same after a bad injury, its mental and it takes time to believe that you are injury free and take the fear out from your mind.
Martial with the hunger and sharpness he had in the last 6 months in addition to close control when he dribbles and good finishings he is going to be world class. Although I want to see the same Martial for a year to judje him better (safer) .
So Martial scored a lot of goals, pressed, making runs, dribbles and he had a decent hold up play while Rashford before his injury i think he was going to become a "special" player and he carried an average team like is. And both of them are nowhere near their peak. I think they are good enough for a title challenging team . Althought i want to see them in a proactive team with a better coach and then either they will go their game in next level or they will struggle with little space to make their runs.

Martial played as a central Striker for the first time in his United career this season.
He has done quite well racking 20 plus goals.
Ole said he is now working a lot in gym to build on his physique.
So we can expect better hold up play.

Sancho's arrival will add competition in both left and right flank, which is exactly what we need to push on our young players.

Maestro you are talking complete bolloxology here.

The problem our forwards had, which is probably the only thing everyone on here has agreed on at the time, was lack of creativity in the team.

Bruno has improved that somewhat and VDB should add some more.

You are wanting to replace the top scoring trio in all comps across Europe’s top 5 leagues last season?

You are barking up the wrong tree pal.

What needs replacing (or at least improving) is the coaching and how we get the ball further up the pitch much quicker than we have grown used to.

MM, The whole team played poorly in the FA cup and the Europa league semi-finals. The problem with forwards is that they need the players behind them to play well to give them a platform to play well.

That is actually the same throughout the whole side. A defence will struggle if the keeper makes mistakes and they have no confidence in him. The midfield will struggle if the defence isn't solid, the midfield won't feel confident in the defence and will drop deeper to collect the ball and shield the defence. The forwards will struggle if the midfield isn't able to progress the ball quickly, accurately and efficiently to the forwards in good areas.

That's why they say every great side is built from the back. That is why until Liverpool signed Alisson and VvD they were a good side but not a great one. Suddenly the base is solid and that improves everyone in front of it.

People also have to appreciate that Rashford turned 22 last season. He is still very young to be carrying the expectancy of the team. While Martial is playing his first season as a central striker and to an extent is still learning the ropes in that position.

However, both during an injury disrupted season, in a team that until the last 15 games was struggling to create good goal scoring chances.

Maestro, I think Wazza has it right. You are barking up the wrong tree.

We can win a tile with a forward line of Rashford, Martial and Greenwood. (no front three in the England scored more than them last season) . What we can't do though is win the league with a declining goalkeeper and a porous defence.

Which is the real issue. We need to shift 3-4 of our central defenders and bring in one who can pull our defence together. While we also need to sort out the keeper situation. Either DDG needs to buck up, cut out the mistakes and return to his best form, or we need to replace him with Henderson.

Martial and Rashford created the opportunity that lead to the pen against Seville. That was 1-0 and had we had a better defence game won. BUT we conceded 2 because of rubbish defending. Lindelof and Williams for both.
