Hi Eds, now that Filip Stevanovic has turned 18 do you expect a deal for him to be completed before the end of the transfer window? Thanks in advance.

Does he play left wing or right wing? If he's a right winger then we wait for him to step into the first team next season. No need for spending £120m on Sancho. If he is the real deal then that makes a lot of sense to me.

No doubt someone will tell me he is a left winger and we still need a right winger tho.

All these kids look amazing on Youtube in awful leagues.
When I play five a side, there are always a few kids who rinse everyone. Until they come up again the 6ft+ seasoned defenders who brush them aside like ants.

MancMan, he plays predominantly on the left, although is capable of playing on the right. Fairly two footed, great technique.

He turns 18 today, which would make him older at the start of this season than Greenwood was at the start of last season (albeit by a month or so) . However, he is unlikely to ready for the first team this year. If he joins the club I can see him staying with the first team this year to settle down in England, get used to English football with our players and our coaches around him. Probably playing most of his football in the under 23's with a few chances in the league and FA cup most likely. Then depending on how he does he'll either stay with the first team next season or head out on loan to play regular football.
Or he could be loaned back out Partizan for the rest of this season.

Spenno, Stevanovic has made 50 appearances and scored 10 goals for Partizan, playing in a eastern European league which produces defenders like Nemanja Vidic.

He made his debut as a 16 years old and has also played games in the Europa League playing against sides such as Manchester United.

I think he's been kicked by many 6ft plus defenders already. Whether he is ready for the pace at which the EPL is played at or the overall technical ability is a bigger question as to whether he is ready to be roughed up a little bit.

Shappy, thanks for the info.

The lad's age and experience has little bearing on whether he's up for the first team at Man Utd. You mentioned Greenwood and of course there is Giggs.

There's not many at that age who can do the business but maybe he is one of them.

Maybe loan him out for a year in the UK at a Championship club. Get him used to the culture and the football, then phase him into the first team next year. If he can play on the right then maybe that's the right wing position nailed down for the next 15 years and we save £90 + million not having to buy Sancho.

That's a lot of maybes but I don't mind the club trying to pull something like this off if it's their plan.

I've posted recently on this subject and there is no way that he would improve the squad right now. What I have seen, while watching Partizan games, is that he is a talented player, but often struggles even in weak Serbian league.
If United sign him, Partizan will most likely insist in 1 year loan, but I'm not sure that's the beat option for him.

I think we need to review the recruitment process at the club. It is clearly noy working and there is little confidence that we can identify the right players and then negotiate to buy them where the team is weak. Until this is done I don't see things changing much.
