Been reading this site since the Fergie days, always reluctant to register and post due to negativity, but what the hey :) .
FOr what its worth, my take on where we are and the recent transfers. :)

I think we did some nice periferal signings as a great bonus if we had our business complete. however, we didn't do our business at all - we all know this. and i feel so sorry for Ole. He gave a list, and we can be guarenteed he did not get anywhere near what he asked for, same as LVG and JM.
Cavani: not a bad signing, but terrible deal!
- experience and quality. but the actual deal is poor. Agent fees (why are millions spent for an agent when the player is free? why is a 33 (34 really) year old who no one else wants, without a club since march, is worth 2ooK per week. not a good deal)
Telles - i like this deal, looks good, good attacking, better end product than current LBs, good price - very positive
Van de Beek - good signing, but while pogba is lounging around he won't get the chance he deserves. should definitly be a starter or at least give a chance, even the most dedicated followers of pogba should see he need to be dropped quickly (i hoped we could have sold Pogba in the window. but is what it is)
Traore - like most of us, have only read up on him and seen you tube - but he looks sooooo very good. The opposition in any footage i've seen to be fair is not great, but defintely appears a real genuine talent. as the Parma deal coolapsed - i think this is an awesome grab. People say he's young you don't know if he'll make it - while kinda true, at 18 if he's good enough we will see very quickly and won't be waiting long to know.
Pellistri - like traore, i've only seen youtube. young, energetic and an agressive winger. i like this -but how will he fair out against good opposition - definitely worth the money (again we should see soon, he's not a child. he's 18 - top talent displays this, even if raw)
Along with a string of young talent across europe during the summer. that could be fruitful

The whole sancho debacle. well we all know - player wanted to join, Ole wanted him, we had the money, Dortmund clearly explained how to get him - Man Utd negotiations were commical, and we will now never see him in a Man Utd shirt (madrid or someone will pop in next year) . once in a generation talent, such a real pity. #7 that never happened.

I feel for Ole, though we may have purchased good future potential. will he be here to bleed them into the first team? Will the next manager want those players?
Hoping Ole can do enough to keep the job until these guys prove themselves - if they do at all

We can blame Ole all day long folks, but when you do any job, you look for the tools to complete the job you want to do, and if you don't get them. its very hard.
If we don't like Oles tactics, fair enough. but when he's not given the resources he feels he needs to do the job. its a downward slope.

{Ed025's Note - good post that daragh, you should post more mate..

Welcome Daragh. Good post.
Cavaini deal I've seen reported. Works out cheaper than ighalo. Makes sense to me.

@ken - yeah, i hear you and agree, i have no genuinely no problem with Cavani as a player, its a good option on the field mate. but the actual deal just really seems a little odd to me. I'm not informed on the Ighalo deal, and i have no doubt you are correct. but in my mind it solidifies that we don't know how to negotiate. The fact that its a better deal than a previous poor deal. for me all i can say is 'ehhhhh' :) .
Its just the aura that bugs me. in the past 8 years we seem to be a kind of retirement home for footballers that want a big wage.
In saying that, i like having cavani, it gives us options. and i think he has a great attitude, which will reflect in the dressing room. so this could be very good for us, and i hope so - but financially still puzzles me.
We need to remember this isn't cavani in his prime. he will work hard, but he's not the player we saw 3-4 years ago before he was playing regularly and before he had a few injuries.

I agree Daragh. Its a wild card option. It may or may not work out.
My point is we can effectively have either of them for about the same money so in that sense it seems like a good option.
He seems like the right sort of character. He had a point to prove if he does well we have an option for anther year. Its in his interest to bust a gut to earn another year @10m.
He is not the future but can contribute to the present and more so than ighalo imo. Plus martial and mason both have a lot to learn and no better game to model themselves on in terms of effort and selfless running.
Hope to see you post more often now you have made the leap😂.

Great poat Daragh and interesting views from all. A little more 'critique' and a little less 'criticism' will go a long way.

Very much a balanced and cuo half full poat Daragh, though my one concern is the level of doubt shown to Ole.

Am I the only one who truly beliebes he is the right man for the job? A ruthless, externally calm but privately ruthless and uncompromising manager.

I have zero doubts, as in zero, that given the same time as Klopp, he will easily deliver success both domestically and in Europe.
