Quality result last night against a very good side with a very enterprising, usually tactically astute manager. I thought we rode our luck at certain points in the first half but never looked over run and were the most dangerous team throughout.

Obviously Rashford will get the plaudits for the quality of his finishes and the direct play that we all crave from him but I thought Bruno and Mctom were immense when they came on. Bruno will give the ball away trying something every now and then but he will find that defense splitting pass like the one that sent Rashford on his way. Kudos to Marcus for sticking the ball away and playing to the whistle. Mctom has been very good in the CL so far, he is stamping authority on midfields with his physical presence and I still think he can be huge for us.

I know some have said Fred was brilliant, I think I was watching a different game. He gave the ball away far too much with sloppy passes, yes he was industrious and yes you know he will give you a shift but his passing is abysmally poor at times and it often gets punished.

DVB looked good, had some silky touches and you can tell he's so aware of what's around him constantly, more to come from him.

Degea looks solid again, Henderson must be gutted as he has been quality when given the chance also.

Well done boys and well done Ole, everyone is fast enough to bash him but he got it spot on last night (again) and bringing on Rash and Bruno when they were pressing so high and throwing people forward was perfect.

On to Arsenal and we need 3 points and a performance in the league and from what I've seen of Arsenal we should be getting it.

SAF20

I was surprised such a tactically astute manager had them playing a very high line after we brought on Rashford. The fact he was on side from a run starting in his own half suggests to me they didn’t understand what Rashford can do with acres of space.

They dominated possession yet hardly threatened, looked technically good in a good shape yet forgot the basics of leaving space for pacy forwards. They must not have seen how Leicester won a league title.

It was very tight indeed and RBL were on top until the Rashford goal and they then fell apart. It is a learning curve for their manager who didn’t read our substitutions at all. Ole made good substitutions.

Ole got it spot on last night. Fair play. Cracking result and on to arsenal now.

The fact that their CB was the most industrious player sums up how we gave them nothing in our half. RBL had half chances and I don't think de Gea was ever threatened by them.

I think United did well to handle the press, lot times we gave the ball away, but our back four didn't shy away from receiving the ball and work on ways to play it out.

I think in VDB we have a very very intelligent player, a player who knows where his teammates are and knows how to protect the ball and find a player in tight spaces.

Quite pleased with the overall result, as I'm sure most of the posters are.

I agree with that Red Man, they pressed almost naively in the second half and were punished, Ole spotted the gaps and the space opening up and mad the correct call in bringing Marcus on with his electric pace and Bruno who could find him at the drop of a hat.

Defensively I don't think they covered themselves in glory, Upamecano while a beast physically was left out of position a fair bit. It's almost as if they didn't respect what we could do on the break.

Saf 20 fred either won the ball back or played a key pass for all goals bar the last. He was excellent last night, very Kante esque in his performance. A few misplaced passes, but honestly don’t get why people still expect different? He wins us the ball back a hell of a lot and I think he’s turning into a great player for the squad. He’s got his limitations, but I’d have him in the squad every week and starting most of the big games.

Agree with Caolan about Fred, he wins the ball a lot, and often high up the pitch.

How often has he won the ball high up the pitch just as the other side are starting to push players forward? When it used to be Jesse or Perreira at CAM, we didn't take advantage enough, but with players like Bruno or DVB, winning the ball at a time like that is almost a guaranteed chance.
