Saw a few posts about motivating players etc. I do agree that this is the job of the manager- but surely the players have to take a large portion of the blame on any lack of motivation in my opinion.

Having played different sports myself regardless of what I thought about my coaches I always gave everything on the pitch. I think we lack characters to do that. My best mate and his dad are Liverpool fans and both always say our best midfield pairing are Fred and mctominay because they will roll the sleeves up and get stuck in. They're right. If someone like pogba had the motivation to give everything week in week out, what a player he'd be. This isn't a defence of the manager or anything like that as I agree he has a role to play, but if certain individuals can't find the motivation required within themselves before a game that shows a stunning lack of character imo.

The players need to be motivated as an individual every game at United, its not up to Ole to motivate them that much imo. If they are unable to get up for games themselves then they are in the wrong job.

Coalan, I totally agree with you. I posted about motivation, so perhaps it was my post you are referring to?

I think it says a lot about our (or any) team when they are not 'up' for a game. They should always be up for it, but it is also the management's job to instill that extra bit of motivation.

Unfortunately, as I have said before, United seem to lack it hugely in the 'run if the mill games', or when we are playing badly.

As many have said before, we lack leadership and a strong mentality on the pitch. And I don't see much if it from the sidelines either.

Betty, I think it’s 100% a collective effort from players and coaches to be motivated. But I’ll never understand the basics of players not sprinting back etc and those types of things have to be found within.
