I know this is the manchester united page but it was good to have some football on free to air tv.

Got to watch dominic calvert lewin play a full 90 minutes (apart from the game against us), have only watched highlights this season of his goals.

Have to say, very impressed with his overall game, can play 1/ 2 touch, very good first touch and just keeps it simple, plays it out wide, then busts a gut to get into the box. Also looks like he's put on 10kg and developed physically, remember he used to be like a twig for a couple of his early years.

makes me wonder when we last had a striker like that, zlatan is one of my favourite players post fergie era but even he spent most of his time on the halfway line instead of the box.

Lukakus touch left a lot to be desired although i did always feel like he tried hard and still think he's a top striker in the right system

Lastly martial, i am starting to lose faith in him and I've always defended him but he just doesn't look like scoring goals is the be all end all for him, more than happy to drift through games and not contribute.

If so hell have to settle for back up left wing to rashford.

I think a top top CF would make a real difference for us right now. A Shearer, Owen, Wright would be perfect but there aren't many of them knocking about, and knowing us, we're probably looking for another LB or AM.

Martial is not my favourite as you know😂 I've seen a lot of people become disenchanted with him recently that had always supported and rated him.
For me him and pogba would be the 1st 2 out the door ahead of any others.
Talented lad but not sure he is a good fit for the epl. He is here 6 years now and all we keep hearing is he will be fine once he gets a run of goals. but i just don't see any long term hope for him here. Unless when we get a new manager he responds.

Martial is the worst example of the inconsistency we have. He can we amazing but sadly far too rarely. We're waiting for him to claim the No 9 shirt and he seemed to step up last year but he hasn't got going at all this season.

agree with that ken pogba and martial need to be moved on.

pogba for obvious reasons,

martial is just lazy, doesn't make runs into the box and doesn't look arsed most of the time

cavani has done more than him when he has come on.

martial is not going to get any better.

Our first choice front 3 got 63 goals last season . I would take that again this year.

I think when martial is in form he is just about good enough, but at the moment he is out of form and that means he isn’t quite at the level, his languid style makes him look like he’s not trying and I think his frustrations at not getting a goal are causing him a few issues. I wouldn’t write him off just yet as I think he will go on a run of goals soon enough.

Considering martial is struggling with form, greenwood is being taken out of the limelight and rashford looks to be playing with an injury, i highly doubt that will happen jred.

It is possible to simultaneously appreciate and praise what that front 3 did last season but also be concerned with how they're performing this season.

I know its still quite early but after next week well be 25% of the way through the league season and they have a combined total of 2 league goals between them this campaign.

He had a good year last year but other than his first year, he's been very patchy. Even Lingard gad a good year, unfortunately if we want to get back to competing we need people who do it most games, not 1 in 10. I jus don't see him as a clinical centre forward ho is going to do it consistently.

Wasn't Cavani signed to be the big strong number 9 who can hold the ball up and bring other players into the game whilst scoring plenty too?

I would do anything to get Haaland. He dies for scoring goals.
Always hungry and determined.

Martial has all the talent in the world to be a top striker, he is quick, technically gifted, strong enough and decent in the air, and when presented with a chance he is the coolest guy in the stadium.

However, what holds him back is his mentality. He was great in his first season, then he lost his No.9 shirt and Zlatan came in. Whether your view is he sulked or he just couldn't deal with the pressure of a top striker breathing down his neck doesn't really matter. The result is the same thing, when pressed his form drops off.

Well then Zlatan left and Lukaku was the main man, Martial stayed on the periphery of the team. A talent, but not showing it often enough. He's young, he's playing out of position. We're the legitimate excuses at the time.

Then Lukaku was sold and Martial is made the main man, he is given his No.9 shirt and the support of the manager. He then kicks on and plays well, has his best goalscoring season for us. The only blemish was his niggling injuries.

Then over the summer we sign Cavani and the pressure on Martials starting spot intensifies. Just as it does true to form his form dips again.

I want Martial to be a success, but it might be time to admit he might not have the mentality to be a top player at a top side. Which is fine. Many great players are better off as big fish in a small pond.

I believe that we need two up front.
Cavani is clearly class so he should start when fit and either Marcus or Mason to play off him when he wins the ball in the air. Martial is a good player but he is not suited to playing alongside someone. He can either dribble or play one twos but that is it. Ideally we need a target man and a sharp shooter.
