I find myself in the unusual position of agreeing with Jamie Carragher whoo has said Pogba is the most overrated player ever.

OK, he’s a decent player but that’s all I see. The occasional spark but generally a 7 out of 10 player and often less than that.

We need some decisive leadership right now but I fear we will continue to drift. Do we take what we can get in January, or do we keep him for another 18 months and lose him for free.

It’s a no brainier. He has missed a lot of games injured, he doesn’t want to be here, and he’s hardly making a big difference when he does play. Let’s move him out.

AJH you are indeed correct. If the Exec had any respect for the club and its fans, they would grow a pair and begin the process of litigation with Mr Pogba - on the basis of not turning up to work for years and downright lack of effort.

If MAZE was on the board, MAZE would lobby to sack Mr Pogba on the grounds he is a flog.

Make an example of him to world of what is expected of MU payer. Let him go down in the history books as the player MU sacked because he was a dreadful mistake.

Nani was capable of moments of pure genius and world class quality. I will always remember him juggling the ball against Arsenal until they got so wound up they just booted him.

Yet the reality was that Nani while having world class ability, rarely was able to use it to the benefit of the team.

Now step back and tell me what is the difference between my description of Nani and how you could describe Pogba?

Pogba has huge potential, but he turns 28 this year. He just doesn't show it enough and is unable to make the difference when we really need him to.

Good players can look great when they play with great players, while great players make good players look great. Pogba is a good player, not a great one.

Move him on, and both us and Pogba will be better off for it.

I would rather have Nani in my squad than Pogba and Nanis gotten old.
It is not uncommon for players to be blocked a move, but to come out and say every month in one way or the other is a disgrace.
Value or no value, I would never bring him on even if we are in a losing position.
Ole really is spineless and I would freeze him out of the squad.
We are never going to get much money for him anyway.

Shappy

What was your position when Mourinho wanted to get rid of Pogba?

Red Man, my position was if Pogba didn't want to be at the club then he should leave.

With Jose the issue was more that half the squad wanted out due to the toxic atmosphere he created (no doubt with Pogba as well, it takes two to tango) .

I have always believed that if a player doesn't want to be here then there's the door.

I still think Jose is a good manager, possible still a great one. He just wasn't the right fit for our club. He didn't really want to be in Manchester, spent nearly 3 years living in a hotel away from his family. He lost his long term No.2 when Rui Faria left, and he seemed sullen and sulky within weeks of becoming our manager. He was clearly unhappy and he picked fights and through players under the bus left, right and centre, until he had alienated nearly all the squad, including players like Matic who he brought in as a close ally. Sadly it was never going to work out with Jose and it was doomed from the start. Ultimately a poor appointment.

Now he is back in London with his family, now he has a new assistant that has brought new ideas and fresh impetus to Jose's work he seems far happier and is performing far better.

I think of the Mourinho appointment in much the same way as I look at the Di Maria signing. We brought in someone who didn't really want to be here, and it ended badly because of that.

Get as much as we can in January and finally be rid of him. If a team comes in with anything close to £50 million then he should be sold.

2toms,

I’d remove the million part and take £50.

@Shappy I see you are still the master of u-turns. You say you view the Mourinho appointment similar to that of ADM, well in fact that is the same as Pogba.

Pogba did not want to be here after 6 months, MAZE is not sure if he really wanted to be here at all. Maybe United were the only mugs to pay the wages on offer plus the fee.

@Redman makes a great point, you cried to the heavens that Pogba was hard done by and the fans lack of faith was misplaced. Just own it - you got it woefully wrong.

Carregher knows about over rated players, he played with one.

Always listen to Old men :D Sir Alex was right about him and so was Jose Mourinho. It didn't work clearly for us, so let's just move on.

What do you make of him Ed1 - your player profiles are superb.

{Ed001's Note - firstly thank you Eric! As for Pogba, he is what he is, in highlights he looks brilliant, because you can always pick out a flick or trick to showcase his skills. However he is, and always has been, anonymous for 85 minutes of a match. I am sorry if you have heard me say this next bit before, but it just seems to be to sum up Pogba perfectly. In the film White Men Can't Jump, Woody Harrelson's character tells Wesley Snipes' character that he would rather look good than win and that is Pogba. He doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke or cause problems off the pitch (which may explain why Raiola feels he has to be so vocal?), but he is not a winner. What Pogba wants to do is show off his skill, to play a 50 yard pinpoint pass is not about creating a chance for him, it is about showing what he can do. That is why he lacks drive on the pitch, because losing is not a problem to him so long as he looks good doing it. He is a playground footballer who has never matured into a professional.}

I completely agree too. PP is the most overrated player i’ve seen. I’m left scratching my head when people come to his defence. For a player to demand such wages and transfer fee, yet be unable to play a simple 6 yard pass and repeatedly be hassled out of possession, is baffling.

MAZE, I agree Mourinho's stint at the club could be likened to that of Pogba as much as ADM. I likened to Di Maria as he like Jose has left the club already, while the Pogba debacle rumbles on.

There is no U-turn, I said at the time that BOTH Jose and Pogba should leave, but that Jose needed to go sooner as it was possible for him to leave outside of a transfer window.

I said Pogba has all the talent to be a top player and that if allowed to play to his strengths he could be a real asset if he indeed wants to play for us.

I think Ole is making the same mistake as Jose in playing Pogba as part of a double pivot. You certainly won't see the best of him in a role that requires such discipline. I think Pogba showed what he could do as part of the three man midfield that Ole played when he first came in as care-taker manager. Matic holding, Herrera doing the work and moving the ball quickly, and Pogba in a "freer" role on the left of the midfield three. I still think in the right set up with the right players Pogba can be a very good player. I just no longer feel that is viable at our club.

If he goes to Real Madrid and has Casemiro behind him, Valverde alongside him doing the box to box work, while he plays that creative role on the left of the midfield three, then he will be a very good player for Real Madrid.

If he goes to PSG he could add the sparkle their workman like midfield needs.

He has played well as Juventus previously, and under Pirlo I think he could be a success in Turin again if he makes that move.

I think with Bruno now at United, I don't see space for Pogba to play as a creative player in our midfield. The balance isn't right, too much creativity and not enough hard work and defensive nous. Move him on and allow the side to grow.

Agreed Ed. He's got less work rate than Matt le Tissier and less impact.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, Le Tiss made one hell of an impact. If Pogba strolled around but produced the goods like he did you would put up with him!}

Can’t disagree with any of this Ed. Thank you.

{Ed001's Note - it is sad to be honest, so much ability and it is just being wasted. One day he will look back at his career and regret his lack of effort.}
