People may think I'm completely ole in blah blah blah. I've said many times I don't think he will deliver titles. Last night was on him. So my question is when he does get the road who is everyone's choice to replace him?

Personally I still think pochettino- he seems a good coach and a very likeable man. The lack of investment around his last couple of years meant it got a bit stale, we may not recruit well but we would give him some new players. I've seen people on here and on other platforms criticise his lack of trophies etc and say he's not that great. Personally I think he fits the principles of Manchester United.

The other option would be allegri imo but whether he would want to come after the previous shambles I don't know.

I think we have some cracking players who need taking to the next level. Looking at Bruno, Wan Bissaka, Rashford, Greenwood in particular with some good youth prospects to work with coming up. That needs to be a key for the next appointment.

Interested to hear everyone's thoughts- I doubt we will see w change before the end of the season but unless we get a couple of trophies this year then I feel the writing is on the wall- in reality it is stick or twist time.

I feel Poch will have this team play better football.
Only few of the individuals in our team press the opposition. There seems to be a lack of proper coaching to play at a higher tempo.

Nagelsmann is the only one I want. Give him whatever resources he wants and let him work his magic. Amazing coach and plays football the right way.

Big red I like JN. I just think we struggle to get him out of Leipzig during the season, perhaps in the summer? But he seems to have his head screwed on and would want a lot of assurances regarding the future plans. I hate the word project.

Big red ed the club don't give any manager the resources they want

We are always going to fail and be this once grest club

We won't win anything untill the structure ofnthe club is run by people who know what they are doing.

Pochettino has two issues as a manager, and neither of them are his lack of trophies. You win trophies by doing things the right way, so his lack of trophies are at best a symptom of his issues as a manager rather than an actual problem itself.

Firstly, the issue is his poor recruitment, he inherited a good Spurs side, but none of his signings actually improved Spurs as a team. There is a huge difference between being a manager and being able to spot talent. Nearly all of the good players both Southampton and Spurs signed during Pochettino's time at those clubs came about from Paul Mitchell's work. Once he left both clubs ability to spot and bring in a great player dropped. He has since joined th Red Bull group and leads their scouting. Pochettino was too focused on physicality in his signings rather than technical ability. Which is a mistake as its easier to improve a players physical condition tan it is to improve their technical abilities.

The second issue Pochettino has is actually his ability to develop players. Many people point out the successes he had at Spurs with several of their younger British players. However, the reality is that many of them had either hit a wall and stagnated or gone backwards by the time he left. All of these players were in their early 20's at the time, so still had significant potential for growth. Ultimately he gave them a chance and drilled them in how he wanted to play, but he didn't round off their skillset, ultimately limiting them as players. Anyone can throw a kid on the pitch, but working with them to improve them is another thing entirely. Does Pochettino do that? From my observations if he does he doesn't do it very well.

Ultimately what in my eyes would be serious issues with him as a potential Manchester United manager is his inability to develop young players effectively. While his poor track record when getting involved in transfers is another issue considering our own clubs poor record with transfers.

What about Ralph Rangnick? Experienced, could move into a DOF in a couoke of years time aswell. He might be better at setting up a new overall structure at Utd, similar to Leipzig.

{Ed001's Note - I would agree with Shappy and go for him as DoF.}

Naglesman is an outstanding young coach Ken. He’s got Leipzig competing with Bayern and took them to a European semi final. Don’t forget he’s only 33 as well. If we want someone with a great coaching pedigree then I’d say he would be a great appointment.

Shappy- how much of the recruitment at Spurs was down to Poch? They didn’t do any business after after getting to a champions league final or even any that season. Paul mitchell did great work which highlights the need for a proper Director of Football or someone in that role. I’ll ask you, who would you want to replace ole?

Shappy, you’re finding reasons to not employ Poch. But these reasons are also the same reasons Ole is not qualified to be our manager. So you can defend Ole all you want, but you’re kidding yourself if you think Poch is a lesser coach or manager than Ole.

Caolan, Nagelsman would be my first choice now. However, he might be a hard person to convince to join. He has a young family and is a Bavarian and ideally would like to bring his family up in Bavaria. I think Bayern Munich is his destination at some point. I think he will be happy to stay at Leipzig until that happens.

So, failing that I would look to Marco Rose or Erik Ten Hag. Rarely is a great and in demand manager free to join a club. Good managers are nearly always in work.

Caolon_2 if we were guaranteed to get Nagelsmann in the summer I would go for that. You're probably right that it would be hard to get him during the season. Maybe ragnick as DOF too and we can actually start having a proper structure and style of play. Although on both it's more than likely wishful thinking.

Wazza, clearly Pochettino is a better manager than Ole. I've never stated Ole as being a great manager. Just that he had done some good while he's been here, and I wasn't as quick to be ready to pull the trigger than most.

My argument is that I don't think Pochettino has the ability to dramatically change where we are and what we are doing.

I know Ole’s days are numbered but how are we judging who’s a better manager? If Pochettino is a better manager than Ole then clearly that’s not evidenced on silverware. So how empirically are we making that assessment? Win ratio? Goals per game? Points v £ spent?
Curious to hear on what basis one manager is better than another if neither have silverware to prove their worth.
