If Frank lampard wasn't English he would be sacked by now. Another average manager at a big club.

He might get a free pass if he had scored an important goal😊.
Now I like ole and respect him as a united player and person.
But I just don't think he is the manager to take us forward.

What I would add to the party is this. If the chairman and board are happy with ole is now not the time to back him. I'm not sure about players available.
Now I like cavini but it's time to stop going down that road now. The falcos. ibras. cavini. igahlo.
Larsson for me was the only striker bought in like that. That worked.
Ti's time to go after the haalands.

Agreed leahy, Abramovich must have some new found sense of patience. After the money they've spent, can't believe he is still in the job.

I think Lampard is now under a lot of pressure, they have been poor for a while, he bought players in the summer and doesn’t seem to know how to use them, his selection today was strange with a player up front who’s not scored in 9 and leaving his 2 in form strikers on the bench all game. They are 7 points behind us and we have a game in hand, they are looking likely to struggle for top 4, that isn’t good enough, they have the squad to challenge.

On paper they have the squad, but them players need to settle and grow as a team .

Too many options in that Chelsea squad, especially up top, he doesn't know his best team. For me Giroud should be the first name on the team sheet, i'd have Pulisic in all day and Ziyech wide. But then you have Werner, Havertz, CHO, Mount, Abraham, coukd be missing others, its way too much but I take the point that Frank isn't all that and if Ole was at Chelsea in 8th place he'd be sacked or close to, Frank gets a smoother ride by the media because of his career and mostly as he's English. Then again, the pressure managing United and the expectations is a lot more than Chelsea.

I doubt Chelsea would be sentimental or emotional about it, even if Lampard is a club legend. If they do change to someone like Tuchel, you have to wonder where it will take them.

{Ed0666's Note - Tuchel won’t last a season at Chelsea he’s utter tripe. When I think of Tuchel the word Hubris comes to mind.

Tuchel is a very over hyped manager, people like a fancy name i'm not even sure he is that.

I think Frank Lampard is inexperienced as a manager. Even more so than Ole. Chelsea have problems all over the park and remind me of United a while ago. You are right that they need to get a name in if at all possible.

Not sure who it would be but he needs to be given 3 years minimum to sort it out. Historically they have a lot of mercenary players who get long contracts without delivering on the pitch. They need to deliver some decent results.

I think it only looks worse because Chelsea spent a lot of money on what have turned out to be average players.

{Ed047's Note - what did you get for the billion quid you’ve spent, just remind me again 😉

Kurtis,

I think some of the players they signed are very good but it seemed like the transfer ban lifted and they decided to sign loads of players in positions they didn't need. Werner isn't a number 9 in my opinion so they have basically got about 5 wide forwards for 2 positions and 2 players for the number 9 role that Lampard doesn't really want to play. He might fall on something if he keeps trying different combinations but then how do you keep the rest happy?

They spent a lot on Havertz so he is under pressure to get something out of him, a bit like us with Pogba and Maguire, but they already had Pulisic and Mount playing well in the positions he would prefer so they don't really need him.

04 Jan 2021 11:02:21
Allegri would surely be the best option if Lampard was to go?

Chelsea have an unbalanced squad in my opinion and didn't properly address the defensive issues they have when buying in the summer. I've no doubt Havertz, Werner and Ziyech will be great signings long term but they struggled for various reasons so far and that's left players who they were meant to replace having to pick up the slack.

04 Jan 2021 12:33:03
Chelsea are yet to see the best of Werner and Havertz.
I feel both of them are solid signings for the long term.

And Ziyech seems to be gem of a player. Good vision and passing range.

They have good players to build a solid team.

It was never going to work, signing that much offensive players and trying to combine them all. i'd argue their best signing was actually Chilwell, though they need some class CBs (same as us) .

{Ed047's Note - front 3 of Pulisic, Werner and Ziyech

Midfield of Havertz, Kante and Declan Rice. (If you believe the rumours)

Chilwell, James, Silva and Zouma

Countless options on the bench, just need a class manager and they’re good to go.

Ed047, I will have Mason Mount over some of the ones mentioned.
Very good creative young player and probably their most consistent one.

{Ed047's Note - the others just need time in the Prem for me mate, they have a pretty impressive squad and Roman isn’t going to wait 3 years for Fat Frank to make it happen.

Their squad for me is not far behind City and Liverpool.

Thanks Ed, Tuchel is not one I know much about but there was a rumour

The newer rumour going around is Brendan Rogers apparently but Lampard is still in position.

Well, he tryed combining that way, it didn't work. At least not for now. And he has a lot of options on the bench, and everyone will want to play. But all of those options are for the atack/ midfield. Starting defense, except for Chilwell, and perhaps James, is critical, not to mention the bench players or the lack of those. Not convinced on their GK either.
Also, of the 6 players you named in their midfield/ atack, 4 are new (one actually doesn't even play for them) . It will always need time to make a connection between players, no matter if Lampard is there or someone else.
I don't think Tuchel is a top manager, but better than Lampard for sure.
