Hit send too early. Sorry.

When Mourinho was sacked people cited his defensive mindset as one of his qualities that didn't make him good enough for Man Utd.

So what is everyone's take on this Jose Gunnar Solskjaer and our 0_0 will do for us approach 8nnbig games off late?

People keep saying that it was Anfield to defend the performance Deep. I mentioned in the live chat that their Goal keeper was their deepest lying midfielder on the first half and their 2 CBs were a good 10 15 yards inside our half which means we had 11 behind the ball. doesn't make for a good attacking display that. We haven't beaten any of the top 6 yet this season. We sit deep and defend in numbers hoping that we will do them on the counter. That all sounds good and looks brilliant when it comes of but with our attackers being so naive and running like headless chickens, not to mention them being so inconsistent, it becomes a lot harder to pull off. These teams are actually scared of our forward lines and set up to hold them and they are succeeding and hence these ultra defensive performances.

Its a 0.0 in a top of the table clash, against a very good team that haven't lost a home game in 60 odd games .
A point that keeps up top and 3 points ahead of them .
Perspective is needed,

{Ed025's Note - the thing is jred that you dont get many chances to beat liverpool on their own midden and this was one, with a bit more belief and passion you could have done them like a kipper mate, they were there for the taking and you bottled it imo and both teams were happy with the draw..

Jred
It was also a team that was playing their 2 most influential midfielders as a CB pairing. And we didn't have a go at them, never tried to benefit from the fact that they are much weaker due to injuries and not in great form.

We bottled it 0-0 haha I can’t believe what I’m reading, did I just see Ole should be ashamed of himself as well, it’s hilarious.

Where did you read that?

Then by all means laugh GDS. I was laughing too, at the way we played. I do not relate to this United, may be you do that's why you respect Liverpool too much. They were there for the taking, so were City and so were Chelsea. But we were pissing our pants at the thought of playing them so we had 11 behind the ball.

Jred, one question and give an honest Yes or a No answer please. You watched the game yesterday, did you not think it was an opportunity missed? Perspective is that now City can go top by winning their game in hand.

Ed25 liverpool are good team i really don't get this " there for the taking" they where by far the better team in the first half .
Our only other 0.0this season was against city which again has proved a good point.

{Ed025's Note - they were by far first half jred because you let them!, you sat back and let them have the posession and hoped for a counter attack, i feel if you had pressed them and were more proactive they may have buckled mate, united did improve second half and had a couple of good chances late on but it was too little too late..

Agreed but it’s Ole and Ole cannot be criticised in any way. We were afraid to play and that is the truth. These same people queued up to slaughter Mourinho yet now it is supposedly progressive. It was fear of losing football and we missed an opportunity, not just to win the game but to say we are back, knock Liverpool’s confidence a little and I suspect Liverpool were worried we might do that. It was negative mindset and I don’t understand it.

{Ed025's Note - i think you missed a trick as well red man, they wont be as vunerable again as they were yesterday mate and with a bit more intent especially first half it could have been a massive statement..

Thats the keyword Ed025 - Intent. We didn't have any.

{Ed025's Note - your right shan and it was very negative, for me you got exactly what you wanted and set up to nulify liverpool from the start, a big big chance to put them to the sword mate...and you blew it..

I think the reality is that a loss for either side would be hugely damaging. For Liverpool it puts them 6 points off top spot. For us it knocks us off of top spot and hits our confidence.

Liverpool might be in poor form, but it takes either a very brave or an insane individual to go to Anfield with Maguire and Lindelof as your CB's and play an open game.

As it was we made 33 clearances and 8 blocked goal bound shots. I don't imagine for a second had we played a more open expansive game we would have made all those clearances and blocks. So while we may have scored we would likely have conceded as well.

The reality is that both ours and Liverpool's forwards look a little burned out, jaded and out of form at the moment. Playing an open game would be to place the result on a coin toss of which forwards scored more.

The reality is becoming clear. Both Liverpool and United have very good or even great first 11's but the quality in depth isn't there. City are starting to look like the EPL winners this year. But if you look at the quality they have in depth it becomes obvious that they were always the most likely to win the league in a congested season.

Dias and Stones are in such good form that Laporte (City's best defender of the past few seasons) can't get in the team. How many games has the 50m Ake played this season? If Walker is injured or suspended then Cancelo plays.
Fernandinho, Gundogan and Rodri fighting it out in midfield. Options of Sterling, Mahrez, Torres, Bernardo Silva and Foden for the wide roles. The only weakness they have is Jesus isn't anywhere near Aguero's level. But if they can keep Aguero fit for the rest of the season they will walk it imo.
