Typical overreactions on here to yesterday's result. Were people expecting us to put 6 past Liverpool because of who was at centre back yesterday? These games are usually close and tight.

I thought the set up and performance was good. We defended very well, and a bit more quality up front with the final ball/ timing of the run could have seen us create quite a few chances. The two key men didn't perform (Bruno and Rashford) . We should have won that game, we had the two clearest chances by a mile.

Liverpool are still a superb team and if you go all out attack like many wanted, they would pick us off on the break.

Disappointed not to get the 3 points- that alone is a marker of progress if you ask me.

Caolán.

If someone said at the start of the season we’d be top of the league mid-January I’d have laughed in their face.

Most people on here said at the start of the season our aim should be CL qualification and to close the points gap to Liverpool. We are exceeding that, with a favourable run of fixtures to come.

Rashford, Bruno and Martial were poor yesterday. Ole once again dithered over his substitutes. I’m sure he thinks his attacking subs are going to recreate 1999 every week.

But it’s a point in a game we could easily have lost. We defended brilliantly, however our attackers couldn’t take advantage of that platform they were given.

A lot is said about Liverpool’s defence but seem to forget we won the league playing John O’Shea and Rafael in midfield. Henderson and Fabinho are very good players and their presence in defence doesn’t nullify the threat of their forwards.

Personally I’d have taken a draw before kick off so can’t be too disappointed.

No one wanted “all out attack” but do you think it was right to set with fear of what might happen?

Couldn't agree more Caolan. I think a draw was a fair result based on the pattern of play for most of the game but we definitely had the better chances to win.

I was one of those people saying if we see a 10-15 point improvement in the league then that is a good indicator of progress the team are making. Despite this, at the start of the season I didn't think we would actually get many more points than last season. However, we are on course to end in the high 70's / early 80's for points which is great.

In my opinion there were far fewer issues in the game yesterday and in the defeat against City than there were in games we won earlier in the season against the likes of West Ham, WBA and Southampton. We missed some chances and were playing a good team. A point away to Liverpool is never a bad result for United and considering the difference between the two sides across the last few years, it definitely isn't now.

Whilst I wish we had taken our chances, had pressed a bit more for a winner and can see clear floors in the game. I can't help but think this was quite a Sir Alex performance for these games.
Ensure we do not give them anything early, slowly build momentum and hit on the break. We had some chances that if one were put away we would have been saying what a great result.
Like I say, wish we had gone for it a bit more. but maybe to be expected.

Red Man, personally I thought the set up was fine, and it was what I expected. You have to credit Liverpool for the first 30 mins where they dominated the game- we hung in there and came out unscathed. You have to expect that away to Liverpool (with or without fans) . Apart from the 2-1 win there under LVG, I struggle to recall a game at Anfield where we dominated first half.

After that I felt like we were dangerous and grew into the game. Our most influential attacking players didn't turn up Red Man, that is what cost us. We had chances, but the finish and final ball just wasn't there. If we won that game 1-0 we would be saying that it was a brilliant performance.

Usually a point against Liverpool is a good result.
But yesterday imo was an opportunity missed by us.
Liverpool don't have VVD, the best CB on the planet. They also don't have their 2nd and 3rd choice CB's.

Unfortunately we didn't exploit their weakness.
Whenever we had a go at their defence, we created more clear cut chances.

Anyways it is a positive sign to see us aiming for higher standards .
