1 goal scored against top 6 opposition this season. Once again the team looks happy with a draw after 30 minutes and Ole seems paralysed to make a decision on subs-we see a team there for the taking and we don't go for it. for at least 15 minutes give it a proper go see what happens . no, not this managers way. he talks the talk but when it comes to go full attack mode different story.

One striker looking full of confidence is the kid Hughill -get him on the bench . a la Macheda.

We are what we are. a top 4 contender, no more no less. I stick with my prediction before a ball was kicked. top 4 finish and a trophy and to be within 10 points of eventual champions which is progress.

Must have watched a different game to you because from minute 30-45 we were absolutely dominant and they hardly touched the ball.

We let them back in it in the 2nd half but still controlled parts of the game.

It’s another “what if” result.

We are still overachieving this season, but if we are to really push on we need to be beating mid-table teams like Sheff Utd and Arsenal.

We are bang average at best.

It was a dreadful game and we was also dreadful to watch, I dony see how we was dominant at all, the only team looked like scoring was Arsenal. Like Keano said, look scared to try and win games now we was in a good position, I'm afraid we will be hanging onto top 4 if we carry on in this vein.

{Ed047's Note - Wazza’s on the windup! 🤣🤣🤣

Agree that we’re currently a top 4 side who lack the consistency of City but, with 3 signings in tbe summer (imo Rice, Torres/ White, Sancho) we should be challenging for the title, no excuses.

Will then be up to the manager to make the rest happen.

Over achieving? 🤣🤣🤣 I wonder where we would be if we spent some money. 🤣🤣🤣.

Not at all 047. I really enjoyed towards the end of the first half, we were in complete control. So I can see why you wouldn’t have liked it as it must have been frustrating.

The 2nd half was more even. Lacazette was unlucky and Cavani missed a sitter.

2-1 to Utd would’ve been a fair result based on the performances in both halves.

{Ed047's Note - you really were watching a different game, what did you do with your complete control in those 15 minutes. 🤣🤣

Honestly there was only one team going to win and deserved to win it and it wasn’t you.

I genuinely wasn’t concerned about you scoring as our defence had been solid, it was just a case of whether we could score mate and sadly Auba, Saka and Tierney were big misses.

You have to be the worst of the current top six when it comes to team cohesion and style of play.

Again Fernandes goes missing and so does your team.

Clearly i’m in the minority here, but I thought we played well at times and particularly in the first half. Cavani doesn’t usually miss chances like the one he had in the 2nd half. I think we deserved a goal and thought we played much better as a team than we did against Sheff Utd.

Another woeful performance to add to list from the last 7-8 years. Most people are now happy to accept mediocrity from this once magnificent club. We have stunk the place out for the last 7 years and it won’t change until the club is overhauled from top to bottom.

We went out not to lose as Ole does in most games where he fears the opposition. Dominate, I didn’t see that. It was an awful watch and there is a what if. What if we had a progressive attack minded manager? As the Ed says and Neville is now saying it too we have no coached pattern just rely on being defensive with occasional pieces of brilliance. United DNA where it stands for Do Not Attack.

Im with Wazza on this, and can't really understand what game Ed watched.

I wouldn't say we dominated, but we were closer to win. Generally boring game, with few chances to score on both sides.

Cavani missed not one, but two clear cut chances, while best chance Arsenal had was that free kick. I was never worried they would score. Most of their "chances" were forced shots that went very wide.

Rashford, again, was pretty bad, and deserved to be subbed much earlier. I was sad that Greenwood didn't get at least 30min.

{Ed047's Note - it’s your opinion and you’re welcome to it mate but for a side supposedly challenging at the top and us having a weakened side you were woeful.

It was there for us to win and we didn’t. That’s life. The free kick wasn’t our only clear cut chance.

I’d have no problems putting my hand up and admitting you were the better side, but you weren’t.

Both teams were poor imo, but we had better clear cut chances.

The lack of pattern in play hurt us because the forward line were devoid of ideas.

How many saves did arsenal keeper make in this "period of dominance? " how many shots did we have or how many on target, how many corners in that period - we looked like 2 timid teams afraid to lose .

Against Arsenal home and away, city, chelsea, -we have seen a team too afraid to release the shackles and attack. you don't win much playing like that over 38 games. We are a top 4 side capable of going on good and bad runs, nothing more at the moment.

We seem to be getting worse

Player ratings :-
DDG 7 - did nothing wrong but that is not necessarily a plus
AWB 6 - strangely out of sorts - made some timely interceptions and had a weak shot in the first half
Lindelof 6- Okay - fairly steady game but that is about it.
Mcguire 6 - Okay but seems to get caught out by anyone attacking at pace
Shaw 6 - played Okay -but had little support when attacking down the flanks
Mctominay - no rating as went off early
Fred 7 - Played well -still very determined
Pogba 5 - Not really an influence - wastes a lot of possession still
Martial 5 - Not really in the game unless he plays against a weak defence he gets caught in the mire.
Fernandes 6 - one or 2 shots and free kicks but not playng to his earlier form
Cavani 6 - involved in 2 chances in the second half -but no goals
Rashford 5 - out of sorts - not happy in the position on the right flank.
All in all we were disappointing and could not win a match which we should have won. Not title contender form.

Wazza. Cavani misses lots of chances. Always has done. A bit like Andy Cole. His strength is that he gets a lot of chances due to his sixth sense and movement. He will always miss chances.
Arsenal had 2 chances just as good and both were goal bound except for great blocks by awb and maguire.
I'm bit sure either team was any better or any worse than the other. It was there to win fit both teams but neither were capable.

{Ed047's Note - he missed a shed load in a champions league game against us too when he was with PSG.

Ed047

I don't think either team was any good in an attacking sense. Both sides did have decent chances but hardly caused real problems for either keepers. I don't think either side deserved anything other than a draw.

{Ed047's Note - yes, no way am I saying it was a great game but I definitely feel it was one we looked more likely to win.

It was interesting reading the player ratings on the BBC website in the report about the game and Shaw was your best player with a rating lower than Nketiah who came on as a sub.

We weren't that good ofcourse Ed047 but we were the better of the two and the expected goals of the match were something like 0,5-1,5. I agree we weren't world beaters and if you had Tierney Saka and Oba you could have won the match but yesterday we had the better chances.

{Ed047's Note - personally aside from the chances at the end of the game we pretty much nullified you. Holding won everything in the air and the whole game I wasn’t concerned about you scoring.

For me we were more dangerous, albeit in a poor game and could and should have taken all 3 points.

It was only when the teams came out and I knew that we were missing those 3 that I was concerned we wouldn’t score.

I would agree that Arsenal team was bit weaker, missing those few players, and I was happy when I saw the line ups. That said, you can never know what would happen if they played. They might lose crucial ball, like Bruno did for us in some previous game, and you would concede. Auba isn't in a great form anyway. They could have scored perhaps, but we can't know that.

I am listening, what other chances did Arsenal have? The one where Willian was blocked? Sure, Rashford had similar position, but didn't react the way he should. Smith Rowes shot? Wasnt clear cut chance at all, and De Gea defended it easily. What about Freds shot then, to parry that one? Bruno also had a decent shot, which Luiz blocked. Possesion? Was on our side. Corners? Same. Shots? Equal, if you don't count blocked shots.

The game was poor, we didn't "dominate", but in no way were you closer to scoring. Both teams passed the ball backwards a bit too much.
