Anthony Martial.

A player who appears disinterested. He makes no effort to get on the end of things nor does he work hard off the ball to help his team mates. His own team mates run past him to close the opposition down when out of possession.

I was thinking, what top manager or club would look at him and think "Yep, that's the player we must sign"?

Exactly the same things were said about lukaku when he was here tbf.

Lazy, not good enough, doesn't contribute outside the box, doesn't work hard enough etc.

Currently on course to play a vital role in Inter Milan winning their first title in ages and breaking juventus dominance over italian football.

Some players fit different systems and gel with certain managers and i'm sure Martial could excel elsewhere like Lukaku has.

I think there is a world of difference between Martial when he is happy in the knowledge that he is first choice and when he has someone breathing down his neck for his starting spot.

He was very good bordering on great last season, but Cavani comes in and his confidence goes up against the wall.

Maybe if Cavani leaves and we don't sign a replacement we'll get last seasons Martial back.

{Ed077's Note - it just means he doesnt have the mental strength to succeed at top clubs where competition for places is very normal phenomena.

His attitude should be the same for every game. He seems to pick and choose what games he's up for.
He drives me insane with his sulky can't be bothered body language. We would be best off getting shut and getting in some money for him.

Professional footballer asked to run around bit for 90 minutes a week. It must be a huge shock to him.

It's Roger from Lethal Weapon, 2nd cousin removed though.

Sim, be careful, he's only worth selling if the money will be reinvested. You don't want to sell your car because the heater doesn't work very well only to find that you don't get a new car and you have to walk to work.

I agree, I think Martial has had his chances and has failed to take them consistently. In an ideal world he'd be sold this summer and replaced.

That said I think its only worth doing IF we can sign a CB, CDM and ideally a creative RW first. While the need for a back up keeper might also jump up the list if we get a good offer for DDG and Grant retires and Romero leaves on a free.

DSG I don't recall anyone saying that about Lukaku, maybe I missed it. Personally I think he made a big effort but landed somewhere between not quite good enough and not fitting in with the way we should play.

I really don't see any evidence that Martial could thrive elsewhere and if it is a case that he needs to move to play better then that needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Wazza i'm sure if you search for the lukaku on this page you will find people who said those things.

Martial has the ability to do well anywhere.

Martial would do extremely well at Dortmund imo. Suits his game.

{Ed077's Note - They are not looking at AM. They have an existing option on a young striker which they will look to exercise should Haaland leave.}
