Probably controversial opinion.

But I think

Bissouma is better than matic and fred in holding role

Maupay is better than any of our strikers apart from cavani

Holgate is better then all our defenders.

Even If you don't agree I would like us to buy premiership proven players this summer and not gamble on the foreign league players.

Also anyone thinking
Sancho
Haaaland
Varane

Anyone along them line of quality please be more realistic.

I can't see us going for one of those foreign players, let alone all three.

Hi big V.
I agree except for Holgate being the best defender.
I also agree with buying premium proven players in the main. But thus is Manchester United there is a need for another sprinkling of stardust to compliment bruno.
Ole will know who he wants and I think he will be realistic and aligned with the Woodward murtagh and fletch.
Outs will play a big part in raising funds i would suggest we will see 2 or 3 from pogba martial ddg hendo Jesse which will raise decent cash.

This is how you end up with maguire for £80m lol.

Citys “gamble” on the foreigner Dias seems to have worked out for them.

I find it funny that in one breath fans will declare the EPL the best league in the world, then in the second breath declare that an EPL player isn't good enough and they want the player from La Liga/ Serie A/ Bundesliga/ Ligue 1 etc.

I think there needs to be a balance, in my experience some of the best most transformative signings have come from EPL players moving to other EPL sides. That said you can still bring in top talent from sides outside the EPL.

Case in point some people are unsure about Dean Henderson and would prefer the club sign Oblak or Donnarumma etc if replacing DDG. Mostly I think based on the snobbery that he has only every played for Sheffield United. Missing the point that neither Oblak or Donnarumma have ever played in the EPL and they might struggle with it, they might struggle with culture, or the weather.

I think there are some excellent players in the EPL who would massively improve us and aren't necessarily at one of the top clubs such as City, Liverpool or Chelsea who won't sell to us (or will only sell over the hill players at inflated prices, ahem Chelsea) .

Leicester have Fofana, Justin, Ricardo Pereira, Ndidi, Tielemans, Maddison and Barnes who'd all massively improve us if at a price.

Other players who would be great signings for us include: Grealish, Watkins, Konsa, Cash, Gabriel, Saka, Bissouma, White, McNeil, Pope, Zaha, Eze, Rice, Soucek, Kane, Son, Godfrey, DCL, Richarlison, Allan, Raphinha, Phillips, Harrison, Neves, Dendoncker, Pedro Neto, Jimenez, Ings, Bednarek, Saint-Maximin, Wilson, Anguissa, Andersen, Areola etc as well as a few more I probably can't think of off the top of my head.

The strategy of buying the best domestic talent has always served us well but those days are coming to an end in my opinion. We’ll have to cast our net further afield and complete our due diligence on prospective transfers.

The premier league is awash with money, Clubs no longer need to sell and can keep their better players or certainly demand eye watering transfer fees.

Spurs recent success was built on being able to retain their better players such as Kane, Son, Ali etc who traditionally they would have sold.

There are some fantastic players at other premier league Clubs that would undoubtedly improve Utd but we can’t afford them. Rice, Ndidi, Grealish and DCL (to name but a few) would all command eye watering transfer fees. People who believe you could get Rice or Ndidi for £50-60m are dreaming and god knows what we’d have to pay for the likes of Grealish and DCL.

There is no doubt we overpaid for Maguire and AWB but we were desperate. In hindsight we are probably still paying the price for paying £130m on two players that have probably not had the impact we perhaps expected.

AWB is an excellent defender in 1v1 situations but his positioning at the back post is poor and he struggles to defend crosses. He’s not comfortable on the ball and his attacking output is almost none existent. He’s still very young and maybe the Club decided that he possessed all the raw materials to succeed. In time he might become a brilliant full back at the Club but at the moment his game needs work.

Maguire has been done to death and we all know his limitations.

I think it’s clear money is available for transfers but we don’t have a bottomless pit of cash and we can’t afford to rectify expensive transfer mistakes. There are some brilliant players in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal etc that won’t command the domestic premium.

Our recruitment is absolutely vital if we want to get back to the top and our scouting must improve. We need more Bruno’s!
