Hum

Lukaku not good enough, but Martial is.
Lingard not good enough, but Dan James is
Romero not good enough as a No2 now we have created a big problem in goal with DDG apparently unhappy, Romero unhappy.
Bailly disenfranchised
Dalot shipped out and now we are looking for a right back
Who is making the decisions?

I don't really rate lingard much but he seems to be playing quite well, given how much we might have to pay another player, I wouldn't mind giving him an extension.

Red Man,

Lukaku wanted out, behaved like a bit of a prat before he left as well. Good player but limited, I’ve seen people below say haaland is another lukaku and they don’t want him. I personally liked lukaku, but he tended to go missing for big chunks and especially in the big domestic games.

Lingard had been poor for a very long time with us, and had many well documented pressures off the pitch. New environments can bring out the best in players.

Romero hasn’t been number 2 because Henderson is back, he’s leaving in the summer anyway and is handsomely paid. If de gea has an issue with being dropped well tough. He’s been well below his standards and hasn’t shown signs of getting back.

Bailly can’t play 10 games in a row, why would any manager or club trust him and make him first choice.

Is dalot tearing up any trees in Milan? Good going forward but in his games here he showed he was no where near good enough defensively.

If United want to be winning trophies consistently they need better than every name you’ve mentioned in your post and I 100% include James and Martial (who would be first gone if I had a say) .

One of Ole's big failings in his first year was trusting Lingard for so long in the number 10 position with no assists and no goals.

Now he is playing well elsewhere it is why the club is badly run? Except the club has moved on and now has Fernandes and Greenwood playing in the 2 positions I could see jesse getting a game. So who exactly would you drop for him?

It's amazing what can happen when a player changes their environment.

Mentality plays a big role, and playing for Manchester United and under the intense media glare and scrutiny that you just don't get at other clubs adds a level of pressure that not all players can live with.

I like Lingard and I hope he makes the Euro squad for England and he has a good career.

At United he was able to play well when things were going well, but when the chips were down and suddenly his every move on the pitch was being pulled apart he couldn't deal with it.

Add to that all the off field issues he was having and it's hardly surprising he struggled the way he did.

He needs to move on for his career, as do a few others in our squad who are talented but maybe lack the mentality to deal with the pressure and expectancy of playing for United.

Lukaku scores goals, plays like a centre forward, a proper coach in Conte behaved like a bit of a prat before he left as well. Good player but limited, I’ve seen people below say haaland is another lukaku and they don’t want him. Apologies reply may have been pressed when I started to answer.

Lukaku scores goals, improved when a proper coach, Conte started actually coaching him. No longer limited and now they talk about his value having gone up to £100m since we sold him. Funny how Lukaku plus our other rejects are about to win the league. Yes different league but Lukaku consistently scored goals, yet Ole thought he didn’t need replacing because of Martial. Great decision.

Lingard wouldn’t be first choice but instead of dealing with him, Ole brought in James.

You said Romero hasn’t been number 2 because Henderson is back. Romero was treated appallingly by Ole, disgusting. Ole brought back Henderson then dithered over what to do, now he has devalued DDG, brilliant management.

“Bailly can’t play 10 games in a row, why would any manager or club trust him and make him first choice. ”Squad rotation, Ole moaned like hell and gave the excuse about tiredness, yet didn’t give Bailly a game when easily could have, brilliant management.

“Is dalot tearing up any trees in Milan? Good going forward but in his games here he showed he was no where near good enough defensively. ” Ole bought AWB who can defend but can’t attack, then praises him for his attacking ability which isn’t there, ships the attacking fullback in Dalot out. Now wants the club to buy another right back. Genius

The theme through this is management of players, the improvement by coaching, the decision making on players and how to treat human beings.

Lukaku was lazy, didn’t score in big games and complained if he had to play on the right. It’s easy to look at previous players at new clubs and say we shouldn’t have let him go. However, look at his time here. First 10 games he was unplayable and scored buckets. After that he was sporadic, gained weight and to be honest got lazy. I love the idea of the player lukaku can be, but we hardly seen it. With his pace and power he shouldn’t be able to be handled so easily at times. He also wanted out from March, refused to play a game on pre season and leaked sensitive data from the clubs testing on his Twitter account.

Ole has tried to replace Lukaku surely it’s been obvious? Chased haaland and the club didn’t get it done, Cavani has come in and now as Ed says we are looking a striker, so that’s just something you’ve come up with.

De gea was devalued the moment the club gave an out of form player an absurd contract that no other club in the world would have done.

Lingard was a regular right up until Bruno joined and James played on the right wing. Jesse isn’t a right winger so ole didn’t go for James over him. Bolloxolgy that one. Either way, we need better than both to win a title.

Squad rotation, look at Liverpool redman. Unsettled centre half pairings are not good. You don’t rotate that area every week as it causes uncertainty. I think Bailly is probably the best defender at the club if fit, but when he can say play 25 games a season, or you get 50 out of lindelof and maguire I know who I’m choosing.

Romero didn’t want to be a number 3- but he’s handsomely paid and can go wherever now. I don’t agree with his treatment but if ole wants Henderson as his number one long term then that’s his call.

The club it seems are looking for cover at right back, rather than a first Teamer. Would dalot want to be cover? Probably not so again you move him on and get someone more willing to do the role. I like wan bissaka, he’s a defender first which I like and he is improving going forward.

Simple fact here red man is that we need better players than any of the ones you’ve mentioned, we probably need a better manager and coaching staff, but the club isn’t geared up to be a football club, it’s a business. Ole wanted players he’s not got and ended up with lesser players.

Jose the same, Van Gaal the same. In his final years the same happened for Sir Alex. Spot the theme.

spot on caolan 2!
we are a squad laden with high paid underperformers that we cannot or will have to pay huge sums to shift on.

Lukaku is playing better in an inferior league.

Romero is an expensive but quality back up. I'd be fine have Tom Heaton on the bench

Dalot has shown nothing in his time at Milan or Utd.

Bailly is an accident waiting to happen in both meanings.

Lingard is good for West Ham where he has more space but has been awful for 2y.

All of the above would be described as dead wood by many posters.

I'm not sure why people need to find stuff to moan about.

I honestly think as soon as there's a Fred replacement signed you'll see Ole bin him too.

“Ole has tried to replace Lukaku surely it’s been obvious? ”

Yes Ole said Martial was a wonderful player, we didn’t need one, then signed Ighalo, then extended his contract at vast cost, then didn’t play him.

The decision on DDG should have been made last summer, especially if Ole had decided he wanted Henderson as No1 but a ditherer is in charge and Romero should not have been treated the way he was.

I don’t much care for Lingard but to spend £15m on James and freeze Lingard out is not a good method. Agree neither are good enough but again we have dithered, then bought two youngsters who haven’t really played at all.

Sorry Red Man but you are letting your own personal opinion of Ole get in the way of facts.

Should he come out and say “martial isn’t good enough but he’s the only option I have”? Ed has said many times to ignore what managers say in public. So many people react to anything Ole says in a press conference, I personally don’t give a damn.

Perhaps Ole wanted the two of them to compete? De gea and Henderson should be bringing out the best in each other. De gea has been very poor by his extremely high standards for a long long time. Henderson might be doing more in training. What difference does having Romero sat on the bench have? It’s just something you want to use to have a go at Ole. Romero is very well paid for what he does, the club never stopped paying him and he has offers on the table. He had no ambition to be our number 1 so as the above posters have said I’d take someone like Tom Heaton back on half the wages.

Where are you getting that Lingard was frozen out for James? They play different positions and Lingard was a regular right up to the signing of Bruno. Lingard was not good enough for a year- he was never frozen out. James was a regular until greenwood really stepped up after the lockdown.

I’ve said above we need to improve in so many areas to take the next step, that’ll be on the pitch and those off it. I know you don’t like ole, it’s well documented. The points you’ve made don’t make sense to me, it just seems another way to have a go, but realistically not one single player you mentioned or have a problem about the treatment off are good enough, or did not perform good enough when here.
