Given the gravity of the situation bullet points would have been in order.

I can see the club choosing to go with Edwin Van Der Sar. I don't think he would have necessarily have got before, but with the fans kicking off they might see hiring a former club legend in a top role as a way to quell the fans.

Edwin has said he would be interested in taking the role, or at least he has said Ajax and United are the only clubs he would consider taking the role. Which reading between the lines is a public declaration of interest in the role.

But I agree it's a hell of a job for someone and they will need all of their skill, knowledge and a fair amount of luck to have any sort of success in the role.

I would assume the guys at the top of their game would steer well clear of the club Ken, for all the reasons you mentioned.

We'll promote someone internally or do what we did with Ole and hire a person who is so greatful for the job, they will be totally submissive.

They may hire Edwin, on the basis they think it may placate fans having a legend in the role. I worked to a point with the manager, so double up and see if that stops the protests. Send the poor guy out to say good things and some gullible ones might believe it.

At least if it was van der saar, he would have football knowledge.
