Feel bad going in on youth player but I've been really unimpressed with Brandon Williams. Not sure if it's him playing RB over LB but he seems to be going backwards.

Thought Axel looked ok today, Shoretire looked tidy and Hannibal looked like he could do something next season.

Been a tough season for Brandon, I personally think he will go on loan/ permanent somewhere in the summer. A few on here critical about his lack of minutes, but we don’t see him every day in training and unfortunately when he’s been on the pitch he’s not been great.

Brandon has hardly played, so we cannot judge his progress on 1 or 2 games here and there.
Hassenhutl is interested to take him loan. I think that's the best possible move for him.

This is the issue with young players, they find it harder to go 3 weeks without a match to then be thrown in and perform to the best of their ability. Maintaining that consistency without playing much. It's something a lot of players struggle with but especially inexperienced ones.

Brandon did well last season with a run of games. This season playing once a month often in a much changed line up has meant he has struggled for form.

This is why it's important to loan out promising youth players who aren't going to be playing every week. They need game time, if they aren't going to be starting at least once every three games along with a couple of sub appearances then get them out on loan.

We saw it with Garner, a few appearances here and there but never really imposed himself on the side. Good in moments but not whole games. Sent out on loan and plays every week and suddenly looks like one of the most promising players in the Championship. Getting better and better by the week.

Who was the last player that we sent out on loan and he came back to us better besides Henderson? We simply have no path for them once they go out. Brandon goes out and comes back but will he play till the time AWB is there?

Yh the loan system can be quite useful for developing young players but its quite a difficult thing to get right in terms of picking the right club and ensuring they get game time.

We've seen the likes of janujaz, fosu mensah, tuanzebe, periera all loaned out and they still didn't make it, very few academy players do make it.

On the other hand the likes of rashford and greenwood have forced themselves into the team which proves if you are good enough you will make it at the club.

Williams is in the former category in my opinion and should be sold in the summer.

I agree. he has gone backwards. I know he's been short of playing time but he couldn't even get the basics right in passing a ball to his own team mates yesterday. He got caught with the ball so many times holding on to it far to long and he was constantly kept running down blind alleys instead of just playing it simple. I hope i am wrong but i cannot see Brandon Williams forcing his way in to this team, definitely needs to go out on loan and take it from there. I heard that Norwich were interested, that would be a a good move as Norwich play some good tidy football.

The loan system isn't perfect, and that is why for me we have needed a proper DoF. Someone who can oversee BOTH the first team and the academy and can make transfer decisions based around not just the players in the first team but the players coming up through the academy.

Someone who can plot a pathway for the youth into the first team.

Our problem seems to be that the club is reactive and not proactive. We don't have plans for the players we have either in the first team squad or the academy.

Case in point giving DDG a long term contract with Henderson pushing to be involved in the first team. That now means we have DDG on a long term contract with neither keeper happy to not be first choice, meaning the club will now have to react and sell one. Just poor future planning, or arguably no future planning.

I think Williams done well last year based on the team he was playing in. This season I think the team has stepped up a level and that is the reason why Williams is not getting as much game time and not looking great when he does get game time which poses the question whether he is good enough. Personally I don't think he is. Love his desire and commitment and that he is a local lad but sometimes you have to be brutally honest and just except he won't make it at United IF we have desires to push on and win titles and cups.

Its not like we will get a lot of money if we decide to sell him. Give him a full year loan to a good championship or lower PL side and let's see then.

Williams is not as talented as some of the other youngsters. Yesterday did some things right, some thing wrong - like errors in simple passes.
I think he needs to be loaned out to a team where he plays regularly.

I m sure we ll see a much better player as he can easily iron out most of the errors he did yesterday by playing regularly.
