Today’s the day. After an inconsistent season but a good league position, we have the chance to win a trophy. Not the big one but a European trophy none the less.

LVG and Jose both won trophies but it didn’t kickstart a proper revival. There is no guarantee that it will happen this time but it will be a start.

The loss of Maguire is significant, he gets a lot of stick on here but it seems pundits and Southgate rate him highly and whilst he sometimes looks like an oil tanker, he has been our best CB by some way.

However, we have some frightening attacking talent and put simply, if they turn up then we should win. Bruno, Pogba, Rashford, Cavani and hopefully Greenwood are key. If three of them play really well then we should dominate and keep them on the back foot. The problem, as we all know, is it’s never clear which United team will turn up. I fear we will see McFred which will push Rashford to the right and dilute his effectiveness. Rashford and Shaw together have been immense, surely Pogba can play in the middle with McTominay and if not, then Pogba has to be a sub and put Greenwood on the right.

It’s a big game for a number of reasons, if we win then maybe we will see some proper investment realising that we now have base to build on. If we lose then the doubts will grow as it’s another fall at the final hurdle, albeit not at the semi this time. We re clear favourites, we’ve rested everyone, we need to go out and show them that we are Manchester United.

Good post and totally agree, it’s a big night for ole and the team. I’d personally like to see at 4-3-3 with mctominay Bruno pogba and then cavani rashy and mason. Pretty certain we will see the mcfred diamond though. Hoping the rest has helped and the players perform, hopefully they aren’t too rusty because we can’t afford a slow start and to concede against this lot as they will be hard to break down. Here’s to a good performance and a trophy to bring home 🤞🙏👍.

I hope we see Pogba in midfield tonight. I think Parejo has been a key player from them, but he isn't blessed with much pace. They could struggle with Pogba breaking through the middle with his pace and power. However, it will come down to whether he can be trusted in the middle without the ball. Interesting selection tonight for sure.

Biggest game of the season. I think it will be huge for Ole if we win.

Can he hen go to the Glazers and with all that's happened in last 6 weeks ask for 150 mill *outgoings to spend on first team players and not squad players.

Also, Greenwood, Shaw, AWB, Bruno, Pogba Lindelof-for different reasons a trophy would be very welcome.

Regardless of that depressing point, I'm really excited about the game tonight. Not felt this level of excitment for a game in a long, long time.

Whatever team we send out, we should be strong enough to win this, but it is a final and anything can happen.

I reckon they will play 4-4-2 switching to 3-5-2 when they have the ball. 2 from 3 up front alcacer, gerard or bacca can cuse problems : not sure if chukwueze is available but dangerous if he is. As mentioned pajero is one to nulifyas he sets up the plays a lot of the time.
Positives we have a frightening attacking force and mcfred could be vital in the breaking up of play through midfield. Only concern is the cb's- lindlehof slow bailly and tuanzebe can be guilty of a rash challenge a time or two.
Prediction 3-2 to us.

Unai Emery has a great record in this competition.
We clearly are favourites and we should win it but i honestly think it's a 50/ 50game. It depends on what United turn up on the night.

4 0-0 draws already. Think it will be tight. Maybe 1-0 us, possibly even 1-1, but we win it in extra time. Of course we could score early for a change and go on and romp it.

I'm going fianl score 3-2 with Cavani, Bruno scoring a penalty and Greenwood. Villareal will score in the last 10 min to make it 3-2 and a nervous last 10 min, but we will hold on with some last ditch defending.

Massive game tonight, who wishes they were going?

My prediction for the game is 3-1 win. I believe they will score first (standard procedure) then we slowly come back to have a scoreline that flatters more than the gameplay.

Going to be a tightly fought game, but hopeful for a trophy!
