Does anyone here think that Ole needs a technically astute assistant to round up our coaching staff and make us better overall. I ask this as an alternative for the 'Ole out' chants.
Personally I don't know how good Carlos Queiroz, Brian Kidd or Rene Meulensteen are/ were but I am sure they played major roles.

Mbd

A good tactical assistant would help but that means the manager needs to be a leader motivator with the skills like SAF had in reading situations and taking people on a journey. I read the utterings of Ole and just don’t see that in him and additionally the ultimate decision is with the manager, Ole is not decisive as his poor substitutions display amply. He has to go.

I'd say that could make a big difference for us. Ole appears to be a decent enough man manager and players appear to enjoy playing for him.

However, tactically he's shown himself to be poor several times. There's also the issue that players with technical or tactical issues in their game do not appear to improve under Ole. Those who seem to need confidence or an arm around them such as Martial, Shaw, Pogba etc have all produced some of their best performances under Ole.

Ed001 has pointed out AWB's positioning multiple times across the last couple of seasons, he plays like he's still got his right winger on top of him hence why he gets caught out. That's just one example without discussing other players in the squad, delaying or not making subs, lack of obvious attacking strategy.

A tactically astute assistant who Ole trusted would hopefully see these in game decisions improve. I personally think we need some kind of defensive coach as well.

MBD I would say that the appointment of an additional experienced coach would add a great deal to our current set up. Based on the statements really it suggests that Olly is very much a manager and not coaching on the training ground, oddly it appears that Phealen whilst being the most senior coach also does not do much coaching and sees himself as asssistant manager/ potentially DOF that he may have wanted. This leaves most of the coaching to Carrick and McKenna which i think needs adding to.
This along with development of Olly as a manager could make a big difference next season.

Rj, anyone would enjoy playing for Ole because he doesn't push them. He is a goodfella that no one is scared off. He just let's it be as status quo. You and I can replace Ole if that's what is required. Players used to be afraid of SAF when they knew they hadnt performed and that's what is required.

When Sir Alex realised he needed to improve the teams tactical awareness to succeed in Europe he hired Carlos Queiroz, will Ole do the same.

Isn't McKenna supposed to be the tactical whiz? If not wtf do him and Carrick offer.

McKenna and Carrick offer nothing. You're not going to win anything with amateur coaches.

I think Ole's tactics and team selection aren't as bad as some people make them out to be, however they certainly aren't his speciality either, while his substitutions and in-game management are poor.

If an assistant can be found to help with this, they should definitely be brought in.

So Thorne what you are saying is that playing with McFred in every game, incl. Relegation fodder is the right team selection. And not playing with them in the Europa league final is good team selection?
