Is the Sancho signing a tactic to appease the fans? Yes, he has the qualities to make the first team better but is he what we really need especially for the costs involved?

It does make a lot of sense from the board's perspective for:

1. Sancho is young and solves the RW position for years to come.
2. He is already regarded a superstar and his signing would probably be a great commercial opportunity.

The issue though is we already spent big on Amad/ Pellistri and they are only a couple of years younger and I don't see them getting much opportunities at all. What was the point in buying them?

Wouldn't it make more sense to sign someone like Raphinha? He has PL experience and at 24 yrs old is not going to block the path for the likes of Amad/ Pellistri by the time they are ready to step into the first team in say 3-4 years.

If Raphinha turned out to be a top player, then he would block those two as in 3-4 years time he would be 27/ 28. If he was 27/ 28 now, then it would make more sense to sign him.

Raphinha would have been the correct signing two years ago when we signed daniel james.

I mean its not like we didn't know about him, he was playing with bruno who we scouted extensively.

Probably would have cost the same amount of money.

On Amad its a squad game and you need two players for every position with the amount of games being played.

Mad Hatter,

27/ 28 would be the right time for us to look at replacements and by that time either Amad/ Pellistri if ready could slowly come into the first team and possibly replace him in say 2yrs time, which makes more sense.

DSG, you are right that we need 2 players for every position that is if Ole uses them properly and if Ole actually plays them in the first place.

Can we stop with this what will happen to youngsters if we sign a good player routine we always seem to go through, if they are good enough they'll replace the player signed, if they are not, then they aren't good enough are they.

I just a few days ago read a similar article about when kane burst on to the scene there were links to utd, many didn't want him then because what would happen to young james wilson who had so much potential. I wonder how that turned out.

LPU, If Raphinha was signed and fulfilled his potential why would we look to replace him at the age of 27/ 28 when he would be entering his peak years?

Surely that is when you reap the benefits of all the hard work and mistakes that player has made in developing while playing for your side.

Shappy, how long do you expect Raphinha to play? I didn't say replace him when he is 27/ 28 but I was talking about looking for replacements and in 2 yrs time when he is around 29/ 30 then ideally replace him with someone younger.

common_sense moyes, we can all stop worrying about the youngsters and yet it doesn't make sense why Amad/ Pellistri were signed if our main priority was Sancho.
