I am new to this forum but a long term reader, I click on here daily before I leave for work to read any rumours and information from ed002,I try not to read much on the banter pages due to the utter crap posted, but tonight after a glass or 2 of French red I would like to add my opinions.
I think ole has exceeded expectations and continues to grow into the managerial role, sancho is a must, we have not had a right sided player since valencia first signed, .
Our squad is seriously disjointed and ole seems to understand that, and seems to understand that process of building a squad, he thoroughly deserves 2 more transfer windows and should be judged once his team is built, patience is required.

I largely agree with you. It's nice to hear a new voice on here though. Thank you for posting.

He’s exceeded expectations because expectations are low, he’s the failed Cardiff manager after all. However he is clearly not the man to take us forward.

OleGunnar, welcome to the site.

On what accounts has Ole exceeded expectations? Are you willing to wait another 5 yrs for him to grown into the role?

This past season was a great chance at winning something and even push City close for the title till the very end when we had an opportunity but there was no ambition to do so. If Ole had managed to do so I think most people would have been a little convinced that at least he can inspire/ motivate the team when it matters.

There are a lot more other issues with Ole in charge that has been discussed so many times and I don't want to repeat them.

The squad does have its problems but it's plain clear for anyone to see that Ole lacks in a lot of departments to get us to the top. So, stop always blaming the squad for Ole's shortcomings.

Anyhow I hope the "utter crap" I wrote is worthy of your attention.

{Ed077's Note - Why?

AJH, why because other's don't agree with their view point?

It’s very interesting to hear the opinion of the OP on here, the narrative on this page is that Ole is useless and that all united fans want him sacked and anyone that says otherwise is stupid / red tinted / wrong and that the majority of united fans feel the same.

My experience of united fans in real life isn’t the same as on here as I’ve mentioned a few times and there are a lot who agree with the OP. Well done for posting OP, we know who the people are who will tell you that you’re wrong who think they run this site but it’s your opinion and I’m sure plenty agree but don’t bother saying it because of the backlash it receives. i'm not fully in agreement with you as I’m not sure about Ole but I know a few who are.

I agree with GDS2 in that I know a lot United fans who actually don't want Ole sacked and believe he is reinstalling the ethos of Ferguson and heading us in the right direction.

I also know those who feel the opposite way.

Personally I don't think Ole is the solution but that it goes much deeper than him. The club needs a reset, the owners are staying so the structure from the top down needs a quality person as chief exec to oversee change throughout the club with the ultimate aim that United are once again challenging for trophies playing an entertaining brand of football producing youth players that can progress to the first team

My choice would be to bring in the Ajax trio of Van der Sar as Cheif Exec, Overmars as Football director and Ten Haag as manager and tell them to do what needs to be done.

I'm just looking forward to the day he is fired more than anything else. I believe then we will begin to get the club back on some sort of positive footing. Until then I will be calling for his sacking everyday.
But our owners will give him another 150m of their money to invest in players this year. By the end of this window he will have bought 1 keeper plus he do, 2 rb 1 lb 2 cb 2 mid 3 xrw 2cf. He took over a squad that had81 points previous season and been in 4 finals in previous 3 seasons winning 3 of them. i'd say ole is the glazers biggest and most costly mistake since they bought the club. I can't wait till he is fired. The sooner the better.

I'd agree oakbark I think the team from ajax would be a huge improvement.
We have to just wait and see what happens in real life🤣.

I am not sure I want to see what happens in real life.

At the moment I can still have hope we bring in Gnabry, Saul, Zakaria and Torres this summer.

No doubt you will be waiting for me to reply. I think a lot more than 2 glasses of red would be needed to think Ole had exceeded expectations, unless those two were lenses in red tinted glasses.

If some people want to accept the failed relegated Cardiff manager, who seems utterly incapable of in game management, making subs or tactical changes, is the way forward so be it. Unlikely what I write will change their minds, only the continued failing to win the league will do that. There seems to be is a mindset in some that only see the emotion and good side to Ole, likely also to have only ever known SAF, so expect it all to come right as it did with him. However, looks more like we have Dave Sexton reincarnated to me.

In honesty I will be glad when Ole has gone, not because the football will improve and the club will move forward if the owners and Board really want to compete, but because we can then actually be objective about the next manager (unless we appoint another sentimental ex player) without the rancour that it creates when I or anyone dare to point out his obvious failings at this level.

Fact is Ole is useless at in game management, plain in front of our face useless, as amply demonstrated in the final. Maybe if we spend enough each summer, he may finally one day win something that matters like a league title. Hope I am still around because as with Sexton, there will always be next season. It seems some including the powers in charge are happy for our YTS management recruit to try to learn on the job, whilst forgetting this is (or was) one of the biggest clubs in the world, that world class players may now baulk at signing for, due to appearing amateur top down and that we appear a club unlikely to win top honours at, but somewhere that nostalgia reigns supreme.

So welcome a new poster OleGunnar, on our journey to being Arsenal, to the open top bus parade for top four. For those that remember Sexton it’s deja vu.

14.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 12:00:37
Apparently there's nothing any manager can do under the current owners, so we may as well have saved all those compensation payouts and stuck with Moyes.

15.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 12:03:27
Oh and I hoped Jeff Bezos bought us off the Glazers too.

AJH - you’d have to be a weak weak man not to post in fear of a “backlash” on here. Come on we’re not kids, some people need to grow a thicker skin.

OP - who’s expectations exactly? Certainly not mine. The guys useless. He had nothing in his CV to ever warrant this job, since he’s been here he’s spent plenty, won nothing. Flunks every semi or final he makes with woeful tactical performances. Finished the season with less points than the last. If he was sacked today do you think anything other premier league club would give him a job, let alone a so called big 6? Not a chance.

TrueRedDevil - The mediocrity acceptance is truly set in amounts many fans, has been for years unfortunately.

Ken - Couldn’t agree more mate. I’ll be having a party the day it comes, unfortunately I fear it will be a long time yet.

Stand I agree mate maybe ajh just got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning. He is usually very balenced a you know.
Everybody has their opinions and should be able to voice them and stand over them.

18.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 12:23:47
To the op, I come on for the same reason as you. I used to love the banter site but the utter contradictory tripe and negative attitude (from both camps) has made the page almost unbearable, it’s draining. Been on this page since 2010 (had various accounts) and in all honesty I’d never visit again if it wasn’t for 002 and a couple of posters.

19.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 12:28:02
I know more Liverpool fans who want Ole to keep his job than I do United fans. Pointless discussing it though, really, as the board don’t seem to give a hoot what the fans think anyway. Ole will be gone as soon as he starts to cost the owners money and not a moment sooner.

20.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 12:49:13
And here comes the priest preaching the difference between real fans and fans on such pages. Just because you have a friend circle of 2 people doesn't give you the right to judge the wider majority of the fans who do not visit OT or are from other parts of the world.

Welcome Olegunnar. I respect your opinion but i don't necessarily agree with it. Like Ken, i too hope that your namesake is gone sooner rather than later. He has not achieved anything in 3 years he has been here. Football is dire, this season he gave up the fight when we were top. We lost the Europa League final and we were dumped out of the CL when we had more chance of going through. The bar has been set too low for Ole just because he scored a goal. In finishing second, Jose's team of worse players did a better job than Ole's and that says it all for me.

Mate, if you think that majority of us who have had enough of Ole talk "crap" then you won't like it much here till the day Ole is gone.

21.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 13:13:30
Nice to see to some new posters. I literally couldn't disagree more with OG's post.

If you're getting upset posting in an anonymous forum because people don't agree with you, that's nobodies problem but your own.

OG, we will more than likely see the manager get another 2 Windows. Out of all the players he's signed, 9 have made a first team appearance. I would assume we'll sign at least two players this summer. That brings the players he's brought in and played to 11.

With the large squad we already have (that was supposedly good enough for Jose to win the league with) we've added quite a few too. So when is this Oles squad? A manager in the modern game managing in his 4th league campaign can't bemoan the lack of patience. He has escaped the guillotine numerous times now and still hasn't grasped that top 4 won't be enough to save him long term.

As for GDS2 comment about the fans. I know you're a match going fan but it will be really interesting to see how a packed Old Trafford reacts to the woeful football that is displayed often.

22.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 13:56:31
Mumbles,

I agree, sure it will be quite mixed, a lot more in the middle than you would think from being on here anyway.

23.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 14:25:09
True GDS and hopefully "true fans" will stick around till the final whistle.

24.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 14:26:30
I think it's quite mixed on here too GDS2.

I think when you're in the ground you should always give the team your full support.

I don't think fans are been unreasonable by wanting the manager out. And I can also see some of the points for keeping him. I think this site would be very dull if we were all on the same hymn sheet.

25.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 14:47:39
A packed Old Trafford is going to love Cavani.

26.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 15:09:45
Did the United fans not sing Attack Attack Attack at the final?

27.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 15:17:02
Red Man they weren't the real fans you see. Those were only the fans that are on these pages.

28.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 15:47:14
They've been chanting it under every manager since Fergie to be fair.

29.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 16:38:33
Haha we’ve always sang Attack Attack Attack.

I assume I am ‘the priest’, I never once mentioned anything about ‘real fans’ or ‘true fans’’ UA, everyone is a fan, I don’t think anybody has any different right to an opinion than anyone else, if you love the club you love the club. No need to be personal about how many friends I have, my point is that people I speak to in real life aren’t as negative on Ole as people on here. Why you’re so triggered by that I’ve no idea.

My point is that perhaps more people think like the OP but when they post they are told by other posters and even Ed’s that they are talking rubbish and have red tinted glasses so they don’t. Some people think Ole is useless, some dont, the ones who do seem incapable of listening to the arguments as to why some like him and just insist he’s useless, despite that just being their opinion.

Oakbark,

Only one game in front of 10K fans and he scored the goal of the season, I have been saying on here all season I couldn’t wait to see him and he didn’t disappoint. So delighted he signed that new deal and let’s hope we do get full stadiums soon.

30.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 17:17:19
GDS2, I would add to that argument that out of all the United fans I know and converse with, only a small percentage would be happy to see Ole continue as manager.

{Ed014's Note - I have 5 mates who are United supporters, 3 who come from Manchester, not one of them want him to stay and cannot wait until he goes.

I’ve specifically asked 2 of the guys from Manchester what their mates back home think and they say the same as them.

31.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 17:34:03
Welcome OleGunar. I can't judge you because the wine speaks itself. But we would happily make a good debate if you are alcohol free 🤣.

32.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 17:46:35
I found the same as Ed14. My old friends who are United fans for as long as me and none of them want Ole to stay. In fact I was in touch with several other match goers, one who was even longer a fan by some distance than me. In his late 70’s said the same, said he had no faith in Ole at all. Don’t know a United fan who wants him to stay. One wavered but the pathetic mismanagement in the final was the last straw.

I suspect the ones who are more likely to support Ole, are those that saw SAF from the start or heard the story and think Ole will do the same, it is without any basis.

33.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 17:48:51
Ole has done nothing to convince. Made lots of mistakes. should have never got the job from day 1.

34.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 17:51:50
Most of my Utd mates are like me. Not actively agitating to get him out, but not 100% convinced he's the answer either. I think we all think he needs to win something this season, no excuses, or he's gone.

35.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 18:09:25
Welcome OG
Great post
Pretty much agree.
I do think Ole is lacking but perhaps he can develop.
He won't get sacked unless he doesn't deliver on the club's ambition.
If the Glazers back Ole and say for eg he gets his wishlist the expectations will align with investment. Best we can hope for is a big summer.

36.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 20:19:04
So we've finally figured out why GDS2 is surrounded by people who want Ole to stay. It's because he sits in the away end!

{Ed014's Note - 😂😂

37.) 12 Jun 2021
12 Jun 2021 21:14:10
Sadly he is going to be here for the beginning of next season.

38.) 13 Jun 2021
13 Jun 2021 08:33:33
GDS

Just going back to the Attack Attack Attack chants, yes they have been sung many times before but it is aimed at any manager in frustration at the lack of ambition going forward. Given how we are supposed to be delivering this sumptuous brand of attacking football, that is actually more Sextonesque don’t lose stuff, the fact the crowd sang that at Ole is interesting. The fact he didn’t listen or change style to try to attack even more interesting.

39.) 13 Jun 2021
13 Jun 2021 09:53:54
They chant it because they like the team to attack.

Noucamp, yes that’s the same opinion as people I know, not actively trying to get him out or 100% sure he should be sacked, just different to the narrative set on here.

Not a clue what the away end joke is, glad it gave the Ed a laugh though so must have been hilarious 🙄.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, it is not a difficult joke to understand, if that is going over your head you seriously need to get your sense of humour bypass reversed.}

40.) 13 Jun 2021
13 Jun 2021 12:33:24
GDS2, It's a tame joke and I didn't mean to cause you any offense mate.
