Heard that Germany, Portugal and France have all been working out the results so they can finish 1st or 3rd. All of them don't want 2nd place to avoid playing England and the tactical genius that is Southgate.

While I feel this post is a little tongue in cheek. The reality is no one would want to face a side like England at their home stadium in the first knockout round of an international tournament.

Also England have conceded something silly like one goal in their last 8 matches. Tough to break down defensive sides playing at their home stadium in front of 45k fans (possibly the largest crowd any player has played in front of in nearly 18 months) .

Of course they'd rather have Croatia or the Czech Republic. Or any of the other possible sides they could face by finishing 3rd.

Man utd are a defensive side that are not that tough to breakdown at home.

In the last eight matches England have played Croatia, Scotland, CZ, Romania, Austria, Poland, Albania, San Marino and Iceland. Not exactly the world's best attacking teams.

Grim,

Agreed and they will have to step up against a better team, they certainly have the players to do so. Couldn’t care less if England play exciting football if they win, nervous for Tuesday already, it’s going to be a big one. Win that and who knows what we can do.

I'm assuming we go out next round regardless of which of those 3 we face.

Inwish I could say that at least it was a fun ride, but it wasn't. It was dull. Felt like an extension of our season but with even less goals.
